Roger Rees Has Died at 71.
Roger was one of my favorite actors, appearing in many plays, but also great shows like Cheers, and The West Wing. He was also the Sheriff of Rottingham in Mel Brooks' Robin Hood: Men in Tights, which is where I remember him the most.
It's hard to believe he was 71, and the world's a little darker at his passing. May he rest in peace.
*Sorry about the title, I had typed "Reese" before I realized it, and you can't change the title.
Extra Link HereExtra said:Roger Rees, who shot to fame on the stage in the groundbreaking "The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby," an eight-plus-hour adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel, has died at age 71.
Rees worked until a brief illness kept him from it. Most recently, he appeared in "The Visit" on Broadway with Chita Rivera; the production closed less than a month ago.
On TV, Rees was most famous as "Robin," the caddish boyfriend of "Rebecca" (Kirstie Alley) on "Cheers," between 1989 and 1993. He was also memorable on "The West Wing." Among his many stage accomplishments, Rees was Tony-nominated for co-directing the hit play "Peter and the Starcatcher."
Rees is survived by his husband, the writer and producer Rick Elice, with whom he wrote the play "Double Double."
