Robert Urich on DS9 - Hypothetically

I'm sorry, I had to post this.

I'm currently watching the classic Spenser for Hire episodes, where Avery Brooks was the mysterious and badass Hawk...and where the late Robert Urich portrayed the title character based on Robert Parker's character. (Yes, I plan on reading the books in order soon).

Since the two had wonderful chemistry together, I wondered what type of character Urich would have portrayed. Based on his star ability - he was in Love Boat: The Next Wave also on UPN, but many of us still knew him as Spenser, Dan Tanna, the cop from 'Magnum Force' and from SWAT - his face probably wouldn't have been obscured by make-up.

I could be wrong.

I could see him as a Berman-era Vulcan or Romulan (which I probably wouldn't have liked - don't care for the Berman era Vulcan or Romulans) or a Bajoran Vedek or politician....or maybe a friend of Sisko's from the Academy or previous assignment.

Does anyone know if there were 'talks' to have him on the show? Or just general fan speculation...?

Have Urich play Lieutenant Commander Michael Eddington, perfect.

Special meaning when he "betrays" Sisko, and Sisko takes on the vendetta to hunt him down.

:).

^ The movie where they couldn't figure out how to make water out of hydrogen and oxygen?

:)

Now that would have been interesting! ;)

Having Urich play an anti-hero....(when I've always known him as the heroic lead).

I just know Robert Urich from that movie about Space Herpies!

I don't know of this space herpes movie...

ICE PIRATES (1984)

I won't give anything away, but it's basically a spoof on the whole sci-fi genre.

Be warned that the music is garish, as is the humour. But it's not mean-spirited. It's not trying to offend, per se, but Political Correctness is nowhere to be found, either. Though it was made without a decent budget, it is not without charm. Robert Urich and his love interest are entertaining to watch. She likes trying to keep him in line and he likes to keep giving her reasons to. And his crew is quite colourful and even over-the-top, at times. I haven't seen Ice Pirates in seven years, which, coincidentally enough, is, uh ... just about when I first saw it. So don't feel like you've been missing out!

 ((...snicker))

He'd have to be named Spencer, just so Avery Brooks can say "Spensah!!!"

Ahhhhh, that film!

I've never seen it, but it does have a bad reputation. (It also reminded me of "Spacehunter"...which came out a year earlier - and seemed to be a movie not to watch while eating).

He'd have to be named Spencer, just so Avery Brooks can say "Spensah!!!"

Indeed....lol

Urich and Brooks together on DS9? That would have been awesome. Epic, even. I loved the two of them together on Spenser. A shame he's no longer with us.
