River Song and Hallucinogenic Lipstick

I've wondered ever since it was first mentioned or associated with River Song why the hallucinogenic lipstick doesn't affect her. My theory is the fact that she has Time Lord DNA from being conceived on the TARDIS in the time vortex.
*Time Lords seem to be able to withstand, without regenerating, things that would kill or severely disable humans.*
Okay, that's my theory. Now I want to know what you, my fellow Doctor Who fans, think about why the hallucinogenic lipstick doesn't affect River, even though she's the one wearing it.

*In Smith And Jones The Doctor increased the x-ray to 5000 times its normal strength. He told Martha "it's only Roentgen radiation. We used to play with Roentgen blocks in the nursery." Then he expelled the radiation out through his foot.

I never really thought about it, but I guess I assume she just takes an antidote or something before putting it on.

You'd think that such a think would be specifically designed to not effect the person wearing the lipstick. Otherwise you couldn't really use it. Sort of like poison lipstick in other series and films.

Never mind the poison lipstick River used to almost kill the Doctor in Let's Kill Hitler. The Time Lord resistance was useless then.

I assume she wears two layers of lipstick. An insulating layer and the poinsoness one on top...

I'd agree with Starkers about the built up immunity. I don't think she could insulate 100% against the poison.

I'm sure she would have to wet her lips at some point, then...bam!

Either immunity or she takes an anti-venom beforehand.

Probably something along those lines. Or maybe the Silence conditioned her to withstand certain toxins. Who knows?
