News RIP Tina Turner has died

My mother and I just heard the news. I'll always appreciate her music and her role in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. Rest in Peace.

That’s a shame, she was, well, to coin a phrase, simply the best.

I was at John Fogerty’s gig in Dublin last night and noted during his final song, Proud Mary, that he was essentially doing the TT arrangement and not the CCR one. It’s quite the compliment that the writer and original recorder of the song, who is himself an icon, seems to be acknowledging that her version has surpassed his as the definitive take.

Loved her in Tommy as The Acid Queen and in Thunderdome. I have to watch Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band soon too.

As one of the very few people in the world to have the misfortune of paying to see Sgt Pepper in the theater, I would suggest you not bother, especially if you're watching it for Ms. Turner. She has a very, very, minor (blink and you'll miss it) cameo in the closing number. That's it.

RIP Tina. You were truly the queen of rock and roll.

I'm a collector of cheesy movies. The cheesier the better. I have SPLHCB on blu-ray, I just haven't got round to watching it.

In fact, I'm not sure if I ever watched it, buy if I did, it was decades ago and I've forgotten how big a role some of my favorites played in it.

That movie crossed the line into casu martzu territory IMO, though I did enjoy some of the musical numbers.
It sadly burned the phrase "Don't rock the boat Lucy" into my brain. I can't listen to Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds with out that damn phrase creeping in.

Ugh. Thanks for reminding me of that. That's an earworm I haven't had to deal with since I was a teenager.

She was one of the few "things" ( for lack of a better term that i can come up with) that my dad and i had in common.

Such a powerful presence on the stage and i will regret never having seen that power live myself but i will listen to her music until my last days. RIP.
