Stanley Kamel, the actor known for playing Dr. Charles Kroger on USA's hit series "Monk," was found dead at his Hollywood home Tuesday, "Access Hollywood" reports. He was 65.

"Actor Stanley Kamel was found dead in his Hollywood Hills home on Tuesday, April 8, by his long time agents and friends, Donna Massetti and Marilyn Szatmary. Cause of death at this time is unknown. …He is survived by his brothers Dr. Stephen Kamel and Robert Kamel, 5 nieces and nephews, and 6 grand nieces and nephews," reps for the actor said in a statement.

Kamel was a regular on "Monk," playing a therapist who counseled the obsessive-compulsive detective title character played by Golden Globe and Emmy winner Tony Shalhoub.

Kamel has appeared in numerous TV roles over the past three decades, including "The West Wing," "Six Feet Under," "Melrose Place," "The Golden Girls," "Days of Our Lives" and "Murder One."

:(

Dude. This sucks! He was a great actor.

He was also the engineer (Kazinski?) guy in "Where No One Has Gone Before

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

What? I just saw him YESTERDAY in TNG's "Where No Man Has Gone Before"! He was wonderful as Kosinski. I can't believe he died!

He was great on "Monk". One of my favorite characters on that show. I will miss him.

:(:(:(:( I just feel sad now.

RIP Stanley Kamel.

EDIT: I just skimmed over his IMDb profile. Boy, seems like he was in EVERYTHING!

Well that's sad news....I wonder how their going to handle it on Monk?...even though he wasn't a major character..they did make a big deal of how important he was for Monk to talk too.

Stanley Kamel was one of those actors you see pop up in guest roles in shows all over the TV schedule with great regularity as the years roll by - one of those actors you instantly recognize, but don't necessarily know by name off the top of your head. The small screen won't be the same without him.

RIP, Stanley Kamel.

Awful news. :( I recall vividly his recurring role on LA Law. He was terrific in everything I saw him in.

RIP.

I remember his guest shot on 90210. One of my favorite lines was after Dylan told his character that he loved his daughter and Kamel spat out "Yeah, I'm sure you do!"

RIP.

^Indeed. One of the comments on the news story linked to by the OP noted that he looked really sick in the accompanying photo. Perhaps he had some disease we haven't been told about.

I'm really going to miss him on Monk. My whole family watches the show, and we always loved the character. :( RIP, Stanley.

Apart from Arthur C. Clarke and Charlon Heston, is it me or has a whole crop of celebrities died young or relatively prematurely in just four months? :wtf:
