Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster announced

I know I don't have any links, but it is true:

Capcom is bringing the HD remaster to Resident Evil 0 (original version was a Ninendo GameCube exclusive, and then it got ports to the Wii in later years) to major systems next year (PS4, Xbox One, PC).

This comes hot on the heels of the success of the HD remaster of the Resident Evil remake that was also originally on the GameCube years ago (receiving ports for the Wii), and had come recently to PS4,PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360.

Capcom has further said that remasters are going to be part of a new business model for the Resident Evil line. Could that mean that we could be seeing overhauled, HD remakes of RE2, RE3, and RE Code Veronica X? I can only hope so. I have been wanting a high-caliber remake of Resident Evil 2 for years, and it's starting to sound more and more like a possibility. (Much the same as there is now going to be....finally... a full blown remake of Final Fantasy VII on PlayStation 4 by Squeenix).

There is a Japanese website for Biohazard 0 (Biohazard being the Japanese title for the Resident Evil series). Apparently they are having a contest of picking some DLC t-shirt outfits for the game's lead heroine, Rebecca Chambers (who is one of my two favorite RE hotties, the other being Claire Redfield).

Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster is set to release in early 2016. I hope we're still around by then. :)

I just bought the Gamecube version but won't play it for a while. Got a lot of games to play through including currently Code Veronica. I'm assuming that this will be another digital only release? Too bad but the HD upgrades weren't that vast anyway for the first one. An RE2 remake would be a much huger upgrade.

I'm not sure that RE 0 Remaster will be solely a digital only release. The HD Remaster of Resident Evil Remake was both a physical and digital release, I believe. I don't see why RE 0 Remaster should be any different. :)

I do agree that a remake for RE 2 would be much more substantial an overhaul, just like the remake of the original Resident Evil was on GameCube, coming a long, long way from the original PlayStation version.

But, in defense of the HD version, it is nice to be able to see things much more clearly. (Much the same as I loved the HD remaster of Silent Hill 3, although I didn't care for the character voice changes.)

If you have a PS3 or an Xbox 360, I would highly recommend those versions over the GameCube version. I have it on GameCube (had it for years), and PS3 and PS4. The difference is pretty nice. :)

In truth, the main reason I am glad for these HD remasters is because Capcom finally got up off the whole "GameCube exclusivity" thing.

I remember when Resident Evil 4 came out on GameCube. Shinji Mikami, creator of Resident Evil, said that he believed that the GameCube was the only system capable of handling Resident Evil 4. (Or words to that effect). He was, of course, proven quite wrong when RE 4 hit PlayStation 2 not long after....much to his chagrin. RE 4 on PS2 actually outperformed the GC version (largely because of the unnecessarily complicated controller design on the GameCube). (And it plays like a dream on PS3 and PS4). :)

Same thing with Resident Evil Code Veronica, which was a Sega Dreamcast exclusive. It ended up performing better on the PlayStation 2 as Code Veronica X.

Although the new RE releases are multiplatform (as the original RE was back in '94), it's nice to see Resident Evil back where it belongs.... on the PlayStation platforms. :)

(Personal opinions only. Your Actual Zombage May Vary) :)
