Request: repository of Janeway's melodramatic quips

Hello. I'm a relative newbie (but long-time on/off lurker) to this forum. I've a request that I hope is not redundant; if it is, I apologize profusely. I access this site from a mobile device, and it's extremely difficult to utilize the search functions (and even write this post!) So if I offend anyone by this post, please forgive me.

Here's my request: is there a repository/list (on a thread in this forum or elsewhere) of Captain Janeway's considerably over-the-top but nonetheless endearing quips, such as (and I paraphrase as I recall these from memory):

• "Time to take out the garbage"
• "We need to 'outthink' the Thinktank"
• "Time to bring a little chaos to order."
• "How do we 'out-smart' a smart bomb?"
• "I don't respond well to threats."

Sorry; that's all I could think up at the moment. I'm looking for the kind of overly-dramatic quips she so often used, especially right before a commercial break. I found these to be an integral part of the flavor of Voyager.

Can anyone tell me where I might find such a list (eg, a link to the appropriate thread or an external link)? Or perhaps none exist, and we'd have to create a list here. That would be a fun exercise. Of course, we'd have to establish inclusion criteria, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Ultimately it'd be fun to create a searchable database or at least a sortable table filled with them.

Note: I found a thread titled Janeway's Best Lines (http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=82530&referrerid=19315), but it's not very useful: the quotes don't necessarily meet the quip-type I referred to, and it's very hard to search through a thread that has >100 posts, each with a line or two, some duplicates, and a lot of commentary (interesting nonetheless) that impedes searching.

How could we make a single list of these quips, preferably with context/episode names? Could someone start a thread with a posting of quips, and then others would expand it by copying the previous quips in their posts while adding new ones?

Would anyone be up for that?

I'm down to make one here, in this thread, if such a list does not yet exist. There's a whole slew of over-the-top Janeway one-liners. Could just start making a list under this post.

"Time's up" is her crowning glory, IMO. Or "Out-Ferengi the Ferengi."

I liked in Body and Soul when Janeway suggests a compromise or "the other alternative is we destroy your ship." Then she tells Chakotay "sometimes diplomacy requires a little sabre rattling".

Please respond by including all of the above (making corrections to them as needed) and then adding your own. That way each post in the thread will becoming a growing list--we won't have to look at each post to find quotes, just the latest one.

And I should reiterate: there are undoubtedly errors in the quips. Please feel free to correct them so we have an accurate catalog. Once the thread is complete, we'll then have a long list of our favorite Janeway quips (not necessarily long quotes, just the dramatic quips; perhaps another thread can include both quips as well as favorite sayings/quotes).

Finally, it'd be nice if someone could include in parentheses after each quip the context (such as episode or to whom and why she was speaking).

So, there are some serious facepalm moments in Voyager (as there are in all Trek series and movies). Some are more obvious than others. One that really struck me was the following:

"Think Tank"

"All we have to do now is... out-think the think tank." - Janeway

"Warhead"

"Assemble the staff. We're going to find a way to outsmart a smart bomb." - Janeway

"False Profits"

"We have to out-ferengi... the Ferengi." - Janeway

I just ran across another one, and I had to share it. I'm rewatching season 4. I'm on "Prey".

Guess what my favorite captain just said?

"So, there's one question remaining. Who's hunting the hunters?"

Again, I think the criteria should be

• Quip-like (ie, not a quote or a saying).
• Brief
• Overly dramatic
• Over-the-top
• And as Adm_Hawthorne suggested, worthy of a facepalm: or even !

Note about "quips", from M-W:

1. a "clever" usually taunting remark : gibe
2. a witty or funny observation or response usually made on the spur of the moment
3. something strange, droll, curious, or eccentric : oddity

I have a suggestion for finding quotes: Memory Alpha has quotes for each episode.

One can just go down the episode list, click, cursor down to the quotes and check for Kate zingers, such as in Caretaker:

"Mr. Kim... at ease, before you sprain something."

also:

"This minor bipedal species doesn't take kindly to being abducted."

and "Is this another 'love me, love my dog' demand?" (edit, oops, that's Mark)

She's got a million of 'em. That's just Caretaker.

(Not quite getting the idea of listing all of the quips in each post. That's going to get long; very long...?)
