I have a 5 year old nephew, so I end up watching a lot of kids shows. Some, like the atrocious and intelligence-deadening merchandise tie-in waste of time “Bakugan” are, as you might have guessed by my prologue description, beyond stupid. Others, like Cartoon Networks update of the old “Looney Tunes” are actually pretty good when you consider how awful a lot of kids cartoon shows have been over the past decade-plus.

Watching an episode of the latter the other day, I picked up on a familair voice. Pepe Le Pew. I said to myself, “That sounds like Rene,” meaning Rene Auberjonois, the actor who played Constable Odo on “Star Trek: Deep Space 9” for 7 seasons back in the 1990s. More recently, he was Paul Lewiston on “Boston Legal” along side fellow Trek alum, William Shatner.

So I just checked IMDB and it turns out — I was right.

So if you want to hear the grumpy, gruff, always serious Odo sing with a slight french accent via an animated skunk… here’s your opportunity.

LOL

I'm not the biggest fan of the new Looney Tunes, but this was not bad. And yay, Rene Auberjonois.

^

Rene Auberjonois used to be cool, too...he even remembered my name durin' the Q&A a couple years ago!

Now he's the voice of Pepe Le Pew...?

*sigh*

Oh, Odo...no...

:(

I just rewatched The Search, Part II (Thanks, Netflix!) and he spends a chunk of the episode shapeshifting not just for practice, but to BE the object. I prefer to think that Odo now knows what it's like to be our favorite horny skunk -- it's not enough to turn into something, but to be that thing! :)

I too sort of dislike the "new" Looney Tunes, but Auberjonois is pretty good as Pepe. The redesigns of the characters, particularly Bugs and Daffy, are pretty awful.

Thats... unfortunate.

Now I won't be able to help but think of this animated skunk every time I see Odo. :|

OT: Od0, your current avatar scares me. Is it from The Alternate, where he loses control of himself and morphs into the Odo monster? It was pretty uncomfortable scene, I had to turn away. It's interesting how scary result can make a combination of special make-up and early 90's CGI.

I'm shocked, that's considered suitable for kids? What's with the cute cartoon chicks, and the sexual innuendo? I mean come on, this skunk lies on a bed, trying to entice a women, and says 'funky skunk'. If that ain't sweet talk I don't what is...

Have you ever seen Animaniacs?

Forget the Animaniacs, that was only 15 years ago. What about Disney movies of the past six or seven decades? Or heck, the original batch of Looney Toon shorts, too? This music video is pretty much on par with the rest.
