Raising Hope

I love this show - my oldest daughter and I are huge fans, and we watch it every week.

I love the mix of over-the-top twisted humor and genuine real heart. The characters really do care about & love each other (even despite the grandparents originally suggesting that they just drop the baby Hope off at the fire station.)

And I like seeing T:SCC's (and Life's) Garret Dillahunt as the dad/Hope's granddad, and The Goonies' Martha Plimpton is good too as the mom/Hope's grandma. And Cloris Leachman is hilarious as Hope's occasionally lucid (and often topless) great-great grandma, "Maw Maw".

Any other fans out there?

It's not as good as My Name Is Earl but it's alright. The "Blue Dots" episode was hilarious.

I love this show I was happy it didn't get canceled like it's fellow show Running Wilde...of course following Glee doesn't hurt.

Since the series seems to take place in Earl's universe(there was mention of a guy who made a list to right his wrongs on the TV),I was hoping they might use Hope as a backdoor way to give My Name Is Earl the proper finale NBC denied it.

Jason Lee
did appear on last weeks episode but as a old washed up rocker with wild hair but that wouldn't mean he couldn't return as Earl.

Only seen the first two so far.

I'm enjoying it:)

It gets even better.

It certainly does!

In one of THE BLANDEST new tv seasons in a LONG time, "Raising Hope" stands out with its wacky humour, heart and memorable characters. The secret is, all the people actually DO CARE about each other - you can see that on screen. In a great show with a nice little ensemble, Martha Plimptom stands out with her world-weariness and cynicism. She is a DELIGHT(as she is in everything she appears in!).

I am SO GLAD to see her getting a gig like this, doing quality work.

First show in a LONG time we actually look forward to watching and genuinely LOVE!!!

I like the show very much.

It's not as good as My Name is Earl (IMHO) but it's in the same trailer park.

:techman:

Oh, this is a great little show. My husband, who is good at sniffing out new stuff to watch, fell across this and now we have it on series link. I can recognise so much of the story telling cues from My Name is Earl in it and that somehow makes me enjoy it more. It's great to see Garrett Dillahunt in something new, and at least one of the babies is very cute!
