Raising Dion Season 1

Grendelsbayne

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Just dropped on Netflix this weekend. Anyone watching this one?

I went through the whole thing yesterday and really enjoyed it. Fun, light-hearted but not without darkness. In particular Alisha Wainwright was great from start to finish and there were some nice twists and interesting construction of a new superhero mythos. A lot of people seem to be upset about it not being the kind of dark, gritty, edgy, weird, unique style that apparently is expected from Netflix originals - and I don't disagree that the show would fit in just fine on network tv, but for a network tv style show (which isn't automatically a bad thing, imo) I had an absolute blast.

Netflix needs more shows that are less edgy--there are no f-bombs, sex and such I presume. Could I watch it with my pre-teen kids?

There are some scenes dealing with racism and sexism and also bullying, but nothing explicit and little to no blood. I can't remember any cursing off the top of my head, but random curse words are so ubiqitous in all kinds of tv I'm not sure I'd notice. At the very least, nothing highly unusual (the racist guy is very much trying to pretend he's not racist and never actually uses the n word, for instance). Also, definitely no sex - just the occassional flirting.

Netflix categorized this series as 7+ (older kids) in my country. Of course, these categories vary from country to country and in the USA, for example, I suspect that this may be a little higher age category, but will still fit into the category for the whole family.

Thanks to both the input. I did what I SHOULD HAVE DONE and actually looked at the info page. It is rated PG13 here and specifically categorized as family friendly.

we are watching it with our 9 year old... right now the most shocking thing is a secret revealed... we will need to see the next show to process

I'd have probably reflexively passed it by going on the title alone, it sounds like one of those countless reality shows.
