Quantum Slipstream Drive

Are the quantum slipstream drives in "Hope and Fear" and "Timeless" are different? Hope and Fear let Voyager ride out another 300 light years before the structural integrity forced them to drop out, which was supposed to take 1 hour. In timeless, they traveled to "just a few parsecs from the alpha quadrant" in a span of about 30 seconds. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Also, why was the Delta Flyer able to stay in the slipstream? My interpretation was it was just "riding the stream" but with a much weaker deflector than Voyager how was it not shattered to pieces?

It's the same tech. I think they said so in "Timeless."

As for the difference in speeds, my vote would be on the fact that they had a few months to improve on and adapt the technology. They had that fancy rave lighting around the warp core the second time 'round.

I haven't seen "Timeless" in its entirety for a bit and can't remember if they ever technobabbled up a way for the Flyer to be in slipstream - did they modify its warp core as well, rather than just riding the wave? Seems like it would be odd for them to be just riding along if they were taking point.

EDIT: Yeah, the "Timeless" version is modded. Janeway says this:

"Quantum Matrix, benamite crystals, Borg technology. Can you imagine what Starfleet is going to say?"

It's the same but it took them that time in between the two episodes to adapt the technology to work with Voy and even then they had problems.

I think they copied what they found on Arturus ship. Given Seven's and B'Ellana's way of doing things I dont think they stopped with hangers. When they first boarded the ship it automatically send them 15 lt. yrs. in less than a minute? Voyager's slipstream modifications in that ep. didn't go that fast.
What we find in 'Timeless' is a slipstream modification that lasted less than a minute than went badly. There was a .42 phase variance that caused Voyager to veer off the slip-stream causing serious damage. Apparently their modifications caused them to go much faster than in 'Hope and Fear's' slip stream velocity. This was O.K. if they stayed in the stream along with the Delta Flyer ahead trying to guide them. They left the stream going very fast and (with every thing damaged) they crash in a frozen scape.
Further analyses suggest that the slipstream they found with Arturus ship is much slower than the modifications they seek.
