Put Kobayashi Maru to the test!

Death Ray

Commander
Red Shirt
Hello Trekies/ers! I have just published the first issue of my comic book Kobayashi Maru, a parody/homage to Star Trek that is set in its own universe... or if you prefer, the Trek universe as seen from a slightly different perspective.

If the response to this "pilot" is positive enough I will make Kobayashi Maru my major project for 2021-- but first I need some feedback! If you are willing to risk nothing at all, you can get the digital edition of Kobayshi Maru #1 for free! Just purchase it here and enter the coupon code trekbbs at checkout, which will reduce the $2.00 purchase price to zero. (Coupon expires September 8th.)

I'd love to hear what you think of this project! Thanks for reading!

You'd probably get more of a response if you'd posted this in the art forum.

As for me, I clicked the link and checked out the sample pages. Your artwork is fine. The story content, however,is not my kind of science fiction.

Downloaded and read.

Agreed with the above poster that your art is good. Also agreed that the story is not my thing. I'll try to be more verbose, though.
- First, I don't get much sense of a Trek parody or homage. I can see that your Feds are loosely based on Trek Feds, and there are rough Klingon, Troi and Geordi analogs, but that's about it, especially since you're focusing on the non-Fed crew. Most of that crew reminds me more of the Nostromo crew than anything I've seen in Trek. The analogs don't make me laugh much, but maybe they're meant to be more barbed commentary rather than humor, or it could be again that the humor is just not my thing.
- That doesn't mean it's bad. As mentioned, the humor is not my cup of tea. That said, I'd bet that a fair number of people will take to it. This is really the answer to their question you're asking in your original post.
- As a very detailed nitpicky piece of advice, I doubt, for many reasons, that the line "Mighty white of you" will fly with audiences, even as humor.
