Predestination (film)

hux

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Anyone seen this?

I thought it was extremely entertaining and engaging. I pretty much saw the minor twist coming but that didn't really matter and didn't spoil it. I thought the paradox was fascinating and easy to follow and the performances were all great. Based on the "all you zombies" paradox and cleverly done

Sarah Snook was great and though she wasn't the most convincing man physically, she did the best she could with her role, though I would have thought getting a more masculine (less beautiful) actress might have made more sense (but hey, movies love the pretty people, don't they)

That aside, i was really pleasantly surprised by the film

Had low expectations going in (mostly based on the misleading terminator style trailer.....as well as not being a huge fan of Hawke) but really liked this a lot

This is probably better of in the SF&F forum, but yes, I thought it was a great film. I too saw the twist coming from a mile away but it didn't lessen my enjoyment of it. I would totally recommend it to sci-f fans.

Yeah, I ummed and ahhhed about where to put it since the sci-fi board seems to be more TV and general sci-fi chat (not really specific movies)

Any hoo

I felt the added subplot wasn't really necessary, but I enjoyed it. It does work a little better on the second viewing though. The performances were great and I'm really amazed they were able to adapt the short story into a film and not screw it up.

Yep, this was a film that was really well done, and well acted. Sarah Snook was very surprising.

I made the mistake of watching it while distracted, it really needs your full attention to follow everything.

Yep, the film demands ones attention and it got mine. I too saw the plot twists except for the last scene.
(show don't tell Steven Moffat)

so is it really a paradox? The only thing that gets me is the line at the beginning about the bomber changing dates so they can't catch him.
