Spoilers Potential-but-unlikely CBS Cross-promotion Foreshadowing? *NCIS SPOILERS*

In tonight’s episode of NCIS, S19E11 All Hands, there is first a contemporary seafaring vessel named the Stargazer central to the events of the episode’s story, followed by the characters McGee and Parker referring to the USS Stargazer from Trek, and it being Picard’s old ship.

‪‪I’m sure it’s just a case of a reference, but with all the speculation that the Federation ship in Picard S03 is a new Stargazer, ‪‪I couldn’t help but wonder if this fellow CBS property might be teasing us with this use, and then onscreen mention.

Again, I’m sure it’s just a cute nod, but ‪‪I couldn’t help but think of Picard, and the possibility of the Stargazer’s return to his life/appearance on the show.

Don't you mean season 2?

I saw a clip of the scene on Twitter and I was thinking the same - it’s an incredibly obscure and “way too specific to be random” nod, that’s for sure. I mean the Stargazer is fairly “obscure” to the casual viewer. Only Trek fans would pick that one up, which suggests it was indeed a little message meant for the Trek fans.

Right? It felt really specific, and intentional.

Honestly at this point they could just as well come out and say it - PIC’s third season will feature the Stargazer (or a variation). They’ve been hitting the fandom over the head with hint after hint after hint for months now.

Cute episode but H-60s don’t have keys

NCIS and Trek are both produced by the same studio -- Paramount.
Yes, but what's the Venn diagram of people who watch Trek versus people who watch NCIS? I doubt it's some super secret message for the masses. Rather, as someone upthread posted, the writer probably threw it in for fun.

NCIS has done a lot of Trek references in the past, including an episode where a suspect was dressed like a Klingon when he was arrested and interrogated and another episode which used the Kobayashi Maru as a running joke throughout it.

That said, I doubt there's anything to this Stargazer reference.
