Pine's makeover to make him look like Kirk

Trekmovie.com reports that Chris Pine had a makeover to make his hair look more like Kirk's. Here is the before and after:

Do you think it looks close enough to the "real" Kirk?

My main beef is that the should have plucked his eyebrows. Ever since Chris Pine has been choosen to play Kirk I have been thinking about how his eyebrows are much larger than Shatners. It may be petty, but they need to be plucked!!

I think he looks close enough. I am of the opinion that he doesn't have to look exactly like Shatner. Give him a uniform and this look will do. Now let's hope he can act, too. ;)

Well if they're going for resmblance, a good start might be to shave about an inch off the brows.

(edit) Heh, I didn't catch the last part of your post; I guess what I meant to say was that I agree with you completely.

He'll also need to wear colored contact lenses - only McCoy had the "baby blue eyes" of the Big Three.

Or they can correct his eye colour in post-production using digital wizardy. Either way, give him brown eyes and he's good enough a Kirk I say. :)

I never even noticed Pine's eye color. That is an easy fix with contacts. I would imagine that that would be cheaper then fixing it digitally post production.

After Pine was cast I rented my daughter The Prince Diaries 2 since she was a fan of the first movie and... I of course had my Trek related reason for renting it. ;)

Pine was the romantic lead in the film and I thought he was a very capable young actor. He has the appropriate charisma, presence as well as looks to pull off Kirk. As much as I like James Cawley in the New Voyages series I'd have to say that Pine was a better Kirk in Princess Diaries 2 than Cawley is in Star Trek: New Voyages and I like Cawley in the part.

I have no worries about either Pine or Quinto as Kirk and Spock. More interested in Karl Urban as McCoy.

Pluck those caterpillers above his eyes and de-pink his lips (looks like he's wearing lipstick!) :wtf:

However, don't bother about the eyes. I can adjust to the notion of a blue-eyed Kirk.

This concludes my demands for the day. In this forum at least.

I have to agree with everyone else, pluck eyebrows and give him brown contacts and he looks like a early-mid twenties Kirk:thumbsup:

Shatner's eyes are hazel, not brown.

This might just be my man-ness showing, but I've never been able to tell the difference between "hazel" and "brown," even when specifically told the difference by my wife, who herself has hazel (i.e. brown) eyes.

His eyebrows are a little thick, but it's not a dealbreaker for me, nor are the blue eyes. He looks fine to me.

Hazel (I.e. Not brown) is a slightly greenish tint..
Not quite brown and not quite blue. My eyes are hazel, like Shatner's. My eyes are definitely not brown.
