DELL YOUNT ~ http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0950306/

One of the best movies ever! Text book catharsis (and flawless American accent) from Colin Farrell. Kiefer Sutherland steals the show despite almost never being shown on screen.

Great movie, need to get it at some point. Agree about great peromances from Farrell and Sutherland as well.

Who'd have thought the same guy directed Batman And Robin?

I know. I'd made a solemn vow to never watch another Joel Schumacher film after Batman & Robin. But the trailer just totally grabbed me and I ended up seeing it several times at the theater.

Another great movie in kinda a similar vein (but with more of an action climax) is Red Eye. Most of that movie is Cillian Murphy holding Rachel McAdams hostage in her seat on a jumbo jet while none of the other passengers realize what's going on. So once again, it's a taut thriller set mostly between 2 people in a very confined space.

Just watched it tonight in full after not being to stay up and watch it. Now this was one enjoyable Fucked up movie...One that makes me not want to answer anymore rings in phone booths. :shifty:
And the person Kiefer vocalized almost had a "Jack Bauer" feel to it. I could almost see that Jack in an alternate universe or something like it. After all at the end it was almost as he "gave his word" to Stu at the end of the movie....

And the DVD cover gives away a spoiler! Yay!

Who'd have thought the same guy directed Batman And Robin?

No director has a perfect resume and Schumacher gave the studio exactly what they wanted. It's pretty telling of all the people who retroactively decided to hate all the Schumacher movies they enjoyed prior to Batman & Robin.

Yes I saw Schumacher's name at the end in the credits and thought WOW.
A really enjoyable movie IMO.

True story -- they brought in Michael Bay to discuss directing the movie, and he asked, "What can be done to move the story outside of the phone booth?"

Well I suppose it would have been a totally different movie, that I would watch, just for Kiefer, AND a totally different movie altogether....

Then it would have been "Cell" but that had also already been made (or at least greenlit).

I couldn't get myself to enjoy it, though it's not flat out bad or boring. I just call the premise dumb.

I am so sick of people claiming surprise about good Schumacher movies just because of Batman & Robin. For the record, in chronological order, he has made these good to great films;

D.C. Cab
St. Elmo's Fire
The Lost Boys
Cousins
Flatliners
Falling Down
A Time To Kill
Flawless
Tigerland
Phone Booth

I haven't been too impressed with his resume since then, but that's a damn fine list of films. There's a couple great ones on there, classics. Most directors should be so lucky.

D.C. Cab - never heard of it
St. Elmo's Fire - never seen it
The Lost Boys - didn't like it
Cousins - never seen it
Flatliners - never seen it
Falling Down - Yep, that one's good
A Time To Kill - never seen it
Flawless - never seen it
Tigerland - never seen it
Phone Booth - yep, a good one

I'd add 8MM to the list of good ones, though.
