Patrick Stewart in "I Claudius"

Mr. Scott

Commander
Howdy!

I love history and loved the mini-series, "I Claudius". I got to see about half of the series from a website in the Zhongguo Star System, and noticed that Patrick Stewart played the role of a general named Sejanus, who was a protector and advisor to Tiberius Caesar.

Sejanus is introduced when Tiberius came to power and was selected by Tiberius' mother, Livia, who was an evil woman. Stewart had hair in this role, most likely a toupee'. But he looked cool in those Centuiran outfits. He was a villian in the series and the real Sejanus ended up being executed in a purge by Tiberus. Unfortunately, those episodes are unavailable.

They should name a Romulan "Sejanus" in honor of Patrick Stewart.

I have the series on DVD. Stewart rocked as Sejanus. I watched episodes of the show with my dad when I was a kid. Thanks to that and his turn as Gurney Halleck in Dune, I was psyched when I saw he was cast as Picard.

I didn't see I, Claudius, but i know that it got great reviews and is thought well of. I would quite like to see it.

My man loved I Claudius when it first was shown, I adore Patrick, so was delighted when I found a copy in a charity shop for pennies.
Recently saw Mr Stewart on stage in 'Waiting for Godot' with Ian McKellen. They were both superb!

Thinking of "I, Claudius" always reminds me of a caption-this thread from way, way back with a shot of Stewart smiling in the middle of a large parade. The winning caption?

"This space-probe fantasy life is far more interesting than the last one."

Wasn't he fantastic in that. I was feeling very ill the day I went but nothing was going to stop me making it through it!

It's so nice to have him back in London doing so much stage work - he was also excellent in Antony & Cleopatra, Macbeth & as Claudius in Hamlet all in the last 3 years.

I must admit to have being a bit apprehensive about the play ~ I thought it would be a bit 'high-brow' for me, but it was brilliant, utterly captivating.
Mr Stewart is such a superb stage actor I wonder why he made the leap to an American tv series. Then again Star Trek and XMen must have allowed him to continue in his obvious love of RSC and other stage with no worries at all, t'was a logical plan :)
And a cunning one by the producers also as I confess I wouldn't have gone to see Godot without him on stage. Educating the masses ~ another string to his bow:lol:

Also I admire you for not bending to the mighty pound ~ tickets for London were going at least double face price on Ebay lol
