Original, Limited, Hamlet Prince of Denmark: The Restored Klingon Version

Howdy, all. I'm new to the forum and this is my first post.

Waaaaaay back in 1996 when I was collecting comics, I bought a first edition, edition 683/1000, Hamlet Prince of Denmark: The Restored Klingon Version hard cover book. It was in a plastic sleeve and I don't think I ever took it out except for one time, and I didn't crack it open even half way because I didn't want to crease the spine. hahaha. The collector in me; what can I say?

Anyway, the time has come to sell my long boxes of comics and when I was inventorying them, I ran across this fun book. I have no idea where to sell it other than ebay. Is there a better site for Star Trek memorabilia or collectors stuff?

And I have no idea what it's worth. As memory serves, I paid $85 in 1996. I have no idea how to post a photo on this forum, or I'd put in a photo.

Thanks. Any help is appreciated .

Hmm, interesting. You could check the Klingon Language Institute's page on Facebook; that'll probably be your best place to find interested people.
Depending on how it looks (how "Klingon" it looks), there might also be interest over st the Klingon Quarternaster group. If the text on the cover is written in the pIqaD alphabet, rather than the Roman alphabet, that's probably a plus for cosplayers.
[Note that the group might not let you in, though, unless you're personally not into costuming.]

There's definitely a niche group of people who'd be interested in it. However, a decent percentage of that group will already have one, as about a third of the core Klingon-speaking community had been at it for a couple of decades.

I have a difficult time assessing its value. It's definitely a desirable collector's item, and getting a hundred bucks for it seems quite reasonable; perhaps more if it's in such good condition, but I'd say with near-certainty not a cent more than $150, even to a fairly rich client.
That being said, it's not as rare as, for example, betleH yIqel (a banned bat'leth manual), which usually goes for less than $100; I believe I got my copy, in quite good condition, for $75.

In the end, it's now the sort of item with very broad appeal, but rather one that depends on finding that niche customer with deep pockets. I'd personally buy it from you in a second if I weren't quite broke :P

I paid 56.95 for a "Used - Very Good" copy from an Amazon Marketplace seller in March, 2015 (My copy is #151).

The lowest-priced copy on Amazon today has an asking price of $300, but that doesn't mean anyone is buying at that price.

If you want to maximize your value, I'd put it up on Amazon and ask $225, and see if you get any nibbles. Or eBay it with a $200 reserve and see if anyone goes for it. It's a niche of a niche of a niche item, and the paperback edition from Pocket Books is plentiful and much cheaper, so selling this is going to take time or luck to match you with the right buyer.

I'm finally getting around to putting this on eBay. haha. been a wee-tad busy. Anywho, I think I'll list it at $150 and see what happens. Thanks again for the help.
