Obscure Sci-Fi Animated Movies...

Valley Forge

Hi all,

Long shot, but, I'm trying to track down the name of a animated sci-fi movie from probably the mid-70s to mid-80s.

I can't offer up much plot, as I don't really remember that much from the movie. Flying ships through the underground base at the end seems to ring a bell, and the animation style was similar to Heavy Metal.

The standard wiki and youtube searches were a bust.

I know not much to go on, but like a forgotten name, this will bug me until I track it down.

Thanks.

Doubt this one fits, but since the thread title refers to movies - plural, I'll just throw it out there: fantastic planet. Brilliant french film.

Well, the time frame really limits the the possible
suggestions...mid-70s to mid-80s? Space opera, not necessarily anime. Starchaser as Corwyn offered came to mind first. The only other ones are anime featuring the more 'traditional' anime style, rather than Heavy Metal. Captain Harlock, Galaxy Express, Gall Force and Odin Photon Sailor Starlight.

Scan thru the lists of 70s-80s films to see if any titles seem familiar. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animated_feature_films

Perhaps Starchaser: The Legend of Orin?
:vulcan:

Ahhhh, thank you sir! That's the one.

+100 internets to you.

Nothing like scratching an itch.

Thanks to everyone else with their excellent suggestions....they also gave me some neat stuff to look at. I got going down the Wikipedia/Youtube nostalgia wormhole and got spat out after viewing Star Crash, Message from Space, Battle Beyond the Stars and the Dragon's Domain episode of Space:1999 (which reminded me why when I saw it i when I was 7, I pissed my pants and had nightmares for months).
