Noley Thornton (Clara Sutter and Clara's like-a-look in DS9)

The Four Doctor

Commander
Red Shirt
She was a good little actress. Sure, not Olivier standard, but perfectly OK for her roles in TNG and DS9.

She's now a director and producer of indie stuff.

Noley Thornton can be seen in the music video for Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire". In the "1980s" segment just after the woman in the red dress, Noley is seen twirling in a white ballerina outfit.

"Imaginary Friend" had so much potential going for it that it passed over, in favour of showcasing Clara's alien story. She was a sweet, little kid and I got the impression that Whoopie really enjoyed her scenes with her. But I found myself relating to Clara's father Daniel, quite a bit. I liked the actor playing him. I was hoping to find out more about Daniel Sutter, but he's just there to fret over his little girl. What happened to Clara's mother?

I always suspected that was alive and well, but had left Daniel and Clara behind, because she didn't really want a family. Or had problems of some kind. Even just a line, or two about that would've proved interesting. So, his wife's left him and he's raising his kid on his own, who's having problems coping. He's at a relatively new job on the Enterprise, besides. So, in my view, this episode should've really been about Daniel and not Clara, so much. But I'm glad the actress playing her has gone onto great things. She seemed to have some talent, even in those days ...

looking at the We Didn't Start the Fire music video, i wonder what the director was going for, putting Noley in that over the top ballerina outfit. What does a child ballerina have to do with a song about major events in history? Never mind that the scene is meant to be in a 1980s kitchen. Who dresses like that for the kitchen?!

Well, if I dressed like a ballerina in the kitchen, I certainly wouldn't admit it in a forum. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Little kids wear all kinds of goofy crap. (Maybe it was a Christmas present?) Seems like an odd thing to focus on, unless someone has a prior fixation on ballet? She's also seen dressed for a funeral.

Context tells me she was probably in a Christmas Pageant.

*nods*
Thank you..
I have heard interesting tales of directors and costume designers who had a thing up their bottom about the actors in ads and tv and film looking a certain way. It's really horrendous in ads where the children are often treated as props.
