Here it is folks, the most chill, low-key, we knew that you knew that we knew that you knew, console drop in history. No tech specs released as yet but I'm liking the bigger screen and updated joy-cons.

Oh, and is that Mario Kart 9 (hopefully lol)

It does look like a new Mario Kart game. It IS about time. I wish they'd also release a new Animal Crossing, I love that franchise so much.

As for the Switch 2... I'm a little "meh" towards the fact that it's basically the same console again, only with much better specs (most likely, I know we haven't seen anything specific, but I guess it's safe bet). This just seems like such a PS4/PS5 Pro situation to me, lol. I guess I was hoping for another weird-looking new console coming from Nintendo's famous sense for innovation.

Ah well. If this one isn't too expensive (looking at you, PS5 Pro), I'll see if I can give this one a go. At least it's backward compatible with physical games, so I'll be able to play my beloved New Horizons on it from day one.

It was very much a "here's the thing everyone already knows about and has seen in detail, yes it's real" reveal. I'm curious what they can do with a new Mario Kart but they're gonna need more big reveals. Roll on April 2.

Now that Nintendo has officially acknowledged the thing's existence, hopefully soon we will start seeing trailers for upcoming Switch 2 exclusive games.

I really don't know much about processor/graphics/whatever specs and capabilities on these things. Is it too much to hope that some of the Spider-Man games that have only been on Playstation consoles in recent years could possibly be ported to Switch 2? I realize there's something with exclusive licensing with Sony or something, but I'm thinking more in terms of technical capability.

Sony exclusives do have a tendency to come out on other platforms at some point (see Horizon: Zero Dawn), so, it's not completely impossible although the preferred "alternate" platform for them seems to be PC. Depending on how powerful the Switch 2 is it might be able to run the recent Spider-Man games although I will add that even my PS5 struggled a bit at times with Spider-Man 2 when a lot of things were happening at the same time. So they'd either have to make the Switch 2 as powerful as a PS5 at least or make concessions when it comes to gameplay features.

Nintendo consoles are 1-to-1.5 generations behind compared to Sony and Microsoft...
The Switch was about on par with the PS3, maybe a bit more powerfull/better in some graphical abilities, so this one will most likely be between the PS4 and PS5...
But the specs arent known yet, so still a bit of speculation...

I'm just glad it's a little bigger. The Switch joycons are just too small for my hands, makes them cramp easily.

And yes, and new Mario Kart game! And it looks like it'll have 24 players at a time, based on the starting line markings.

I'll definitely get it, at some point. Not interested in being a day of release beta tester.

While you are waiting: how about this, then?

As for the Switch 2 itself, I'm curious to see whether the ZL and ZR buttons are going to be analogue or digital.

When comparing with the analogue triggers on the Steam Deck OLED, and on Deck-compatible controllers like the DualSense, it would be unfortunate if Nintendo stuck with digital "trigger" buttons here, and/or on a would-be "Pro Controller 2".

But then, I suspect one would only notice this when playing a third-party game that is on multiple platforms, rather than first-party games designed with the Switch 2 hardware in mind.

Oooh I knew about this game (I love Hello Kitty), I just couldn't be bothered to install it on my phone since I'm not into mobile games unless it's Pokémon GO... I am intrigued that it's getting a Switch release tho! I might really check it out now! Thanks for letting me know!
