With the 08/09 pre-season now well underway, we're getting closer and closer the the dawn of the new season!

I'm very excited about the Oilers outlook this year. We managed to mount an amazing rush late last year to crawl our way up from the depths of the basement, to just narrowly missing the post season by only 3 points.

There have been a lot of changes in entire organization on and off the ice. The Oilers have a young, enthusiastic, sinfully rich owner; a new general manager; and we've made some excellent changes to the line-up itself. Our veterans are healthy and ready to go, our top rookies have a year of valuable experience under their belts, and our prospects are looking amazing.

Can't wait for October! :techman:

Yes, the Oilers will be a contender for the Western Conference championship. My team is the Penguins. They'll be hard-pressed to repeat their success of last year. I predict a playoff appearance, going maybe 2 rounds into the playoffs.

The Pens have a very strong team, despite all of the loses to free agency. Their major problem right now is that their defense is already hurting with injuries. The last thing they needed was to lose Gonchar in a damn pre-season game.

Iginla-Langkow-Bertuzzi: They'll be the new Legion of Doom, I am very excited!

I'm honestly not sure what to expect with the Flyers this year. With no injuries, they'll be better than last year, but they gave up some of their forwards for defense and I have a nagging feeling they gave up too much.

Canucks for me, being the shameless homer that I am. I have no idea what's in the cards for them this year, though. They haven't even selected a captain yet.

Did you catch the game last night? From what I could tell over the radio, it seemed really spirited. Both teams played well, but you guys were a little better in the shootout.

Being the shameless homer I am, I expect a different result in tonight's rematch. ;)

I only saw bits and pieces, but it seemed like a pretty solid game for both teams. Most of the time I had available to actually watch it was spent thinking "who the heck is that guy?" in regards to a large chunk of the new Canucks roster. This is going to be a weird year.

Looking forward to the new season. Yes it happens every year that the Sharks are promised to go far and they choke (Even though last year they had two great playoff series) but I hope they do well. I wonder what is going to change with the new coach and hopefully new system.

Hockey starts this weekend in Prague and Stockholm. Looking forward to next week when the Sharks and Ducks renew ties. I'm also looking forward to the first match-up between the Sharks and Stars. What Dallas did last year to San Jose will never be forgotten.

The Canucks are 6-0 in preseason, too funny. After a summer of me bad mouthing Mike Gillis and the team every chance I got, they'd better not start playing awesome hockey and winning the division.

The Pens may have won, but they need to do something about their power play-- pronto. It was killing them.

Thank god, they sure had enough of them. the Sens were lucky to keep the score as low as they did.

Does anyone else hate that automatic delay of game penalty they as much as I do? I understand the reason for it but it is really annoying.

My Rangers got 2 wins ,4 points and will suprise everybody this year. The team is much more balanced. I'm not so enthused about Redden, even though he had a goal and an assist 6 mil is too much. The kid line with Korpokoski.Prucha and Callahan will be great as will the second line with Dubinsky. I expect great things from Gomez,Naslund ,Drury and King Henrik will finally win his Vezina. LETS GO RANGERS!!!!

I've got XM! I'm excited about listening to some Ducks games!
Do you get to listen to the individual teams' actual radio broadcasts, or is it a completely separate broadcast exclusively for XM?

It's generally the home team's broadcasts. If there's a game on ESPN, they usually have a feed too. Occasionally if it's a big game, you'll get both the away feed, the home feed, and the ESPN feed.

Tonight is a great example of why Bettman is an asshole. There are no sports on tonight and while there is a presidential debate, tonight would be a great night to open up the NHL season. It's the only thing in town sports wise tonight, yet Bettman wants to open the season the same night the NLCS starts. Gee, and there are people wondering why Hockey sucks in this country, popularity wise.
