NFL Football 2009

Well, if College Football is close, that means the Pros are too. Training Camps are starting to open in the next few weeks, the Hall of Fame is nearing us, and let the Singletary Era begin. Really looking forward to the season but of course that's what I say every year. I just hope it's not as disappointing as other years have been.

Hey, no one gets to talk about disappointing seasons but me. My team hasn't won a regular season football game since 2007. :p

I actually had to root for an 0-16 season last year so that I could look forward to Lions games every week. If they get off to an 0-2 start this year, I'll be hoping they go at least 0-10 to start the year so they can have the longest losing streak ever. Long losing streaks are about all I can hope for as a Lions fan.

But keeping with tradition, I'll make the same prediction I make every year.

Detroit Lions. Super Bowl.

I don't think one can use "disappointing" when describing the lions. Tragedy, yes, but disappointing is too kind. ;)

Favre's really going to look ugly in purple when he's covered in Lambeau turf. If he does unretire (again), I'm betting on 30 interceptions.

Go Packers!!

Farve really tarnished his career. I used to like him too, but now he's nothing more than those TO type annoying media whores. Also can't stand ESPN feeding him everything he wants.

ESPN's handling of Farve Gate has been an utter joke. They've single handedly destroyed what little integrity television journalism had left.

As far as Favre as a Viking, I'd probably still rather he not be. But, a healthy Favre on the Vikings instantly make them the NFC favorites. It's really hard to complain about that.

You want disappointing? Knowing your team's season is over 7 minutes into the season when the start QB is laying on the turf with his knee blown out.

Then again that's 7 more minutes of hope than a Lions fan!

I was pretty bummed when the Pats went 11-5 and missed the playoffs. I was at the snow bowl pwnage of the Cardinals though, that was a hoot.

Even without Brady, the Pats went 11-5. If that's a disappointing season, you've had a good life. ;)

^ I was pleasantly surprised by their season. They overcame a lot of injuries and Cassel turned out to be a good QB.

The bummer was 11-5 and no playoffs. I think they would have gotten beat by Pittsburgh or whoever in the second round but I would have liked to see them get in.

I hear ya on that one. It's a whole new era in KC now, with a new GM, a new head coach, and the departure of longtime fan fav Tony Gonzales. It's exciting, but I've been such a "beat down" Chiefs fan for so long now that I can honestly say I really have no expectations for this year. Certainly nothing in terms of fielding a serious contender.

I was pretty surprised to see the Pats miss the playoffs last year. It goes to show you how loaded the AFC was last year though, when an 11-5 team misses the playoffs. It'll be interesting to see what they do this year. I've never been a huge Pats fan, but they've certainly made the NFL more interesting the past few years.

You guys are probably due for some winning in KC. It's been a tough last few years for the Chiefs, without a real starting QB and serious offensive line problems. The defense hadn't been too solid either. Given Scott Peoli's success in New England, I'd expect him to start turning things around. But it will probably take a season or two.

And I definitely know the Chiefs have been struggling in recent years, because they're the last team the Lions managed to beat, back in 2007. ;)

Just like the Commander, I'm a Lions fan. All I ask is one win, please, one win.

I'm interested to see how long it takes Denver to completely fall apart.

Another Lions fan? Thats hard to believe! What are your thoughts on going 0-16 last year? I was actively rooting for it once they got past 0-5. You think there will be any kind of turnaround this year?

It's not often I get to pick the brain of a fellow Lions fan on this board...
