NKOTB Reunite At 2008 MMVAs
Monday, June 09, 2008

American cuties New Kids On The Block are set to make their first Canadian television appearance in more than fifteen years (a live one, at that!) when they perform at the 2008 MMVAs on Sunday, June 15.
One of the original 'boy bands', Donnie, Joey, Jordan, Jonathan and Danny reunited earlier this year after nearly a decade and a half and are now making waves with their party jam "Summertime" and have an upcoming album in the works. A full reunion tour kicks off in September with multiple Canadian dates.

^God help us. Once around the block was enough for me.

I also thought Donnie Wahlberg had a decent film career going and wouldn't need this.

You know how the greedy assholes that run the music business are; if they can get the same shit to come back, they will. These fuckers won't learn, that's why the music business is in the toilet.

I really wish grunge/alternative/trip-hop/Riot Girrl could come back.

I heard about this. Why do we have to deal with these kinds of music? The 80's had great music... actually, the 60's, 70's, 80's, and even some 90's had great music. Music went downhill bigtime in the turn of the century.

I really wish grunge/alternative/trip-hop/Riot Girrl could come back.

It's still around, it's just not popular. And it's probably better that way.

Bullshit, I think that it should still be popular-it was a hell of a lot better than this pop bullshit that says nothing about the world, or the state of the world. About the only good thing that came out of the pop explosion was that the women were quite pretty-only problem was, so were the women in the grunge/alternative/trip-hop/Riot Girrl scenes. And they had a lot more to say, too-as did the guys.

We need music that's as challenging as the music was of the mid to late '60's/early '70's, and the only people that are capable of doing it are the above-mentioned group of musicians, not asinine pop stars like the NKTOB. I don't mind the occasional pop song (hell, I love the Beatles), but to have a steady diet of it-and with a few exceptions, this stuff is shit-is enough to give one diabetes and high cholesterol.

I swear all the rock stuff on the radio sounds like its roots at the very least are grunge to the point it's tiring. Maybe that's just me though.

My sister wanted to get tickets for some NKOTB show months from now and it's all sold out already.

Donnie shouldn't have to come back. He has an acting career.

I guess they probably shouldn't sing their love songs to 12-year-old girls anymore.

Like I said, because people are greedy assholes, and don't know how to look for new music they way they should. I just came from the North By Northeast music festival where new bands preform, many of them unknown and unsigned; the record industry assholes should be here instead of being with the pop dross at the MMVA's, but they're at the MMVA's watching the like of NKOTB preform, as if these idiots have something to say like they did before when they were a group back in the 1980's. AFAIK, there was better music at the NXNE venues.

Sure he's a working actor but he is not a superstar with that lifestyle anymore. Many childstars never recover from losing that status so what if he hit a midlife crisis and is reaching back to his roots. And perhaps helping friends who did not make out as well as him and Mark in the process.
