Need name suggestions...

I recently bought an iRobot Roomba vacuum cleaner, and I'm trying to come up w/ a name for "him".

Doesn't have to be Trek-related, though that would be nice. No Star Wars, please. And no Robbie from I, Robot, just because it's too obvious and common (per the Roomba website).

Suggestions, anyone? Be creative!

Thanks,

I call mine "the Roomba", cause that's what it is. A Roomba, not a pet. Sometimes I call it "that piece of crap" when it gets snarled in the drapes or can't find the charging base.

If you're a Brady Bunch fan, call it Alice.

Or Mr. French.

Or Florence, from the Jeffersons.

Le us know how you like it. We've been thinking of getting one.

Of course it's not a pet. I name cars and, sometimes, computers, too. LOL

So far mine's just pushed its way past the lace curtains. But I'm not ready to let it work unattended.

So far I really like it, but I'll post more of a review once I've used it a few more times.

I guess I should point out that Star Trek is virtually the only TV I watch, so TV references are out. I won't even understand most of them. I'm a movies and, especially, books person.

My husband dubbed our Roomba "My Second Wife". :vulcan: Yeah, I've not even touched the thing, mostly because of the name. But it does do a great job on the carpets. It did manage to trap itself in the bathroom because Hubby forgot to close the door, but that's his problem, not mine.

[Worf] Minsk [/Worf]

I don't remember... Is that where Worf grew up?

I was actually thinking of something Russian, just because I'm part Russian. Maybe Vladimir. A friend suggested that it sounds like the name of a butler, and I sort of like the idea of Vladimir the Vacuum.

Call it Exocomp after the little robots that formed sentinence in TNG episode The Quality of Life. I personally like those. Also, your new device works alot like one of them; it performs maintainence and is capable of basic intelligent thought (self-navigation).

Exocomps:

You could also make Exocomp its class and give it a three letter prefix and number; something like EXC-2009-A.

If you don't like any of the above, you can leave Trek-style names altogether and call it "Mr. Rat" because it eats crumbs off of the floor.
