NCIS: New Orleans returns for its sophomore season tonight at 9/8c on CBS. Scott Bakula, Lucas Black, Zoe McLellan, Rob Kerkovich and C.C.H. Pounder will return along with new series regulars Daryl Mitchell and Shalita Grant (both recurred last season).

I thought the show was pretty good last year and really gelled towards the end of the season. I'll be watching.

I liked Zoe McLellan's new hairdo, my mom didn't though, said she looked "like every other woman out there" whatever that means.

I also liked Shalita Grant as part of the team, I was hoping she'd get a spot in the opening credits though, maybe soon?

As for the episode itself, when Scott Bakula first showed up in his "gang" gear or whatever he was supposed to be wearing, I had to let out a loud laugh, he just looked pretty silly in it. If it were real life I doubt he'd pass himself off as a member of a Militia, in fact I'm sure he'd be killed on the spot for being a cop.

I'm with your mum there.

She does but blink and you miss it - the credits last night at least were abbreviated big time.

^
Yeah. She was there, but with more names to get through, everything went by really fast. They added Mitchell too. And was Kerkovich part of the main cast last year? I can't remember.

I'm pretty sure he was. As far as I know the only promotions were Daryl Mitchell and Shalita Grant.
I thought this was a pretty good start to the season.

Anyone up on current military slang, when did "F.N.G" from the Vietnam era become the "N.F.G" they were hasing her character with?

I don't know. It was the first time I've heard it. I just figured they rearranged the letters around to make the TV-friendly version of the acronym less awkward. (Even though, if you say it aloud, it's way more awkward.)

:klingon:
"Fucking new guy" flows better than "new fucking guy". I read so many Vietnam memoirs when "N.F.G" hit it stopped me, I wonder if it is further evidence for the increasing lack of military realism since the franchise ceased to be called JAG. Speaking of which seeing the last JAG playing the Secretary of Defense on the NCIS mothership with shared universes being the rage reminds me that NCIS does fall towards Jack Webb acting troupe or Law & Order and not on the MCU side of the spectrum

Yeah. The Bellisario-verse definitely like to recycle actors.

McLellan is definitely my favorite. Though I miss Coates. She had spunk and wits.

I don't think they ever mentioned his name. It made me wonder if it was supposed to be the same character.

It was on the bottom of the screen, It's how I knew he wasn't the SecNav I remember it was a different name but I would have to get off the phone and to a computer to look it up.

It's already off our Tivo but I'm fairly sure it only said "Secretary of Defense". Maybe Cresswell got a promo...
