looks similar to JJ Trek NCC1701 Ent.

If it's about the size of Janeway's Voyager and let space efficient, I don't see the advantage. (Not that Voyager is that great, either.)

I like the idea of the fan-made Poseidon much better.

Hey look the Enterprise's look's been changed yet again...

Sorry just saying it before someone else does (may not be my interpretation).

Looks like the cross between a Sovereign, an Ambassador and too much Jim Beam.

I prefer the fan created Excalibur class myself.

IMO the Excalibur Class is a rather "meh" attempt to create somesort of refit Connie.

As for the Poseidon, nope, not my thing either its too much shovel like in appearance and seems to have two little impulse engines aimed at its nacelles/nacelle pylons which IMO is stupid looking.

It also remembers me a bit of the fan created Excelsior-B from that angle, particularly the nacelles and the saucer.

^ I don't think that I dislike it, but I don't think I like it either. We should have expected designs similar to the past though because who hasn't wanted to Captain a Constitution Class? Almost every design looks like a slightly altered version of something from the past.

A naked attempt to jump on the Abrahms Star Trek movie bandwagon with its curvy nacelle struts...

I remember that one. Tri-deflector array ftw!

I like the Katana and Ronin classes.

So basically they combined one of the many TNG era Constitution fan designs out there with Dennis Bailey´s old Dawnstar (pic1 & pic 2) and threw in the wobbly nacelles from the JJ´s Edselprise for good measure?

Nothing Cryptic has released so far even comes close to what Perpetual has shown while they were working on the game. I´m really worried about the future of this project.

I much prefer the BC Excalibur

^That's the Excalibur I was talking about!

Also, I officially love Lennier. Dawnstar is one of my other favorites.

Which is funny since they acquired all of the design work that Perpetual had since both companies kept in close touch, in fact in Game Informer magazine from September last year they showed one of the Perpetual designed ships in their ship customization segments. Also in the game trailer they released back in August there were also a number of Perpetual designed ships there as well, the Tahoe-class for example.

They have inherited the graphics collection from Perpetual but where Perpetual actually sensibly evolved existing designs or introduced radically different ones, often created by none other than John Eaves himself, Cryptic mostly just copies available stuff (e.g. the Klingon Raptor), adds useless junk to existing designs (e.g. that disfigured Sovereign copy) or fails to balance the designs (like their shortened Galaxy copy that always looks like it's about to topple over).
Doesn't help that Perpetual's gameplay sequences actually showed a realistic environment to immerse the player within whereas Cryptic goes for the generic MMOG look which has been done to death and then some (of course it's still in development but those scenes from the trailer looked almost like straight from "DS9 - The Fallen").

I'll say again: not as bad as I expected but still very kitbashy. I prefer the BC Excalibur.

The BC model is only a copy. The original Excalibur was made by Steven "Rivers 3D" Davis.

[edit]
To clarify: Steven built the original version ages ago and then built several more detailed/advanced models of this design over the years as well. There´s a few independent game models of the Excalibur as well but in the end they´re simply based on his original(s).

^ That Excalibur existed several years before Bridge Commander came out. Not sure who created it originally but I have a 3DS mesh of the ship from the early 2000s and it is credited to Steven Davis, so he might be the one who created the class

Edit: lennier1 beat me to it.
