My Fiction Projects and Ideas

BohandiAnsoid

Commander
Red Shirt
One of things I had to thin kabout when I started to write my stories is how to protray humans. And I decided to write them very similar to as they are now, just with new technologies (FTL drives mainly) and with contact with alien life. However, when it starts, these technologies are really new (a few years at most) and there is only one alien species contacted so far (I talked asout them boefre, as they are Bohandi). And initailly, organization is all as is now.

However, a series of events starts to push humanity toward unification, at least in space. So it leads to creation of United Nations Space Force (UNSF). It is a new sub-section of the United Nations. To quote my own work (Soldiers of Earth, Chapter 4):

Each nation contributed part of their military to the Force, and such personnel was immediately transferred under the new chain of command. [...] Additionally, civilian researchers, medical personnel and some other support personnel were attached to the units of this new force.
In addition, the United Nations Space Force would take command of any human military forces outside Earth and any national militaries were to be ready to provide their forces as requested by the United Nations Space Force Command.
In addition, research programs were established to develop technologies that could help the military forces, as there were no particular vessels or other technologies for the United Nations Space Force at this moment. The forces of the United Nations Space Force were divided between Army and Navy, but they weren't very different at this moment.
As new technology was invented, the UNSF forces were equipped with new ships and eqipment and diffrences between army and navy grew. However, not much else changed until the War of the Three Worlds (war with the Bohandi) began. Because of that, the UNSF got many their rights extended. In the words of admiral Blackett of the UNSF Navy:

"A few hours ago, a Bohandi fleet arrived over Pluto. They built a military base on Pluto, very quickly. Since Pluto is a UNSF space, such an act is an act of war. After consulting with the General Assembly and our allies from the Bird - Shaped Colds, the UNSF command formally declared war on the Bohandi Empire. The General Assembly is expected to pass a special resolution in a few days to allow us to command all Earth resources for the war and give other allowances for o us to win this. It will give us control of all military forces of humanity, including our current forces, other UN forces, all national militaries and any private militaries or security forces, give us extended volunteer and conscription range, allow us to commander civilian assets and other things that will help us with this war. The BPP also declared their support. Also, because the Anti - Macaw Coalition [a human supremacist group that provoked the Bohandi to make said move] is expected to try to commit more sabotages, additional security measures were implemented over all military assets."

The UNSAF fought this war and won. They used the ships they made in secret, Earth Fighters and Earth Carrriers (that I described elsewhere and are not really important right now).About a month after that, a scandal caused by abuses of a secret alien research division oin USA and its discovery by BPP and UNSF military caused the UNSF to change into a one united Earth government, called Terran Alliance (out - of universe, it is in honor of Galactic Civilziaitons game series).

What is important about the UNSF is that they are similar to current humans. While they are united and are capable of working well in crisis, but they are also willing to do alot. And they still have to deal with all the politics. At least unitl the War of the Three Worlds, they had very little power on Earth itself. This gives some potential. Not to mention they have to deal with Anti - Macaw Coalition infiltrators (they are a human supremacist group, with Macaws being used as a symbol as a "lost cause" a species that should die and humans should do nothing to stop that, but spend resorces to help humanity). This has potential, I think.

What do you think do you think? Is there anything you think that can be done more with it? I am especially asking about political side of things of the situation, as I am not very good with writing such things.

I would like to share with you my short series "Star Home: Bohandi". It was the first story I wrote from Bohandi point of view (although I wrote from Bird - Shaped point of view before).

https://docs.google.com/document/d/16Sk28e7-VyrF-fxqEDhgyWBtTzBak6E0kQcEN7GxH70/edit?usp=sharing

Inm its premise, I was inspired a bity with Battlestar Galactica, as its also about a fleet that escaped desctruction of its homeworld. Of course, in this case, these are aliens that are escaping and are main characters. And humans are the "villians" here. The main ships is also a heavily armed ship that carry shuttles and fighters aboard. One of the episodes is also heavily ionspired by Aliens, although no names were given... As for the rest, you'II have to read.

I really would like if you would read and review. I am particularly interested in how realistic do you think this is, as well as what do you think about particular characters. How well are they done, and their relationships. And do the story make you care about them.

This is the situation: my alien species, the Bohandi, estabilished a military base on Pluto and send a fleet of military ships to secure it. UNSF (United Nations Space Force) command decided it is an unacceptable and declared war on the Bohandi. Humans have aliens allies here, called Bird - Shaped Colds and it is revealed they used technology obtained from them to secretely build a fleet of ships, Earth Fighters and Earth Carriers. These ships are revealed and they enter battle, driving most of the Bohandi forces out of the Solar System and containing all remaining Bohandio foprces to Pluto. But, in retaliation, Bohandi begin attacks on human colonies. At this point, resolution is passed that will allow the UNSF to lead the humanity into this way. To cite my book "Soldiers of Earth":

The General Assembly just passed an emergency resolution that will give us everything we need to wage this war. The UNSF command is given full command over all military forces of humanity, including the current UNSF forces, militaries of other UN branches, national militaries and private militaries. UNSF command was given final authority for all things on Earth and in human space deemed useful for the war effort. Because of our current shortage of people, we are allowed to accept all volunteers for combat roles of age 15 or above, although those below 18 must have previous combat experience documented, and all volunteers for non " combat roles if they're of age 12 or above. We are also allowed to conscript any citizen of Earth or an Earth colony, human or otherwise, if they are of mature ago, which is 18 years old for humanity, does not have children who are below the age of maturity, does not have a family member with medical condition that requires their presence and are not employed in a position deemed critical for national security of their government, including but not limited to law enforcement, firefighters, and administration employees. Conscripted people can be assigned to front lines or to other branches, such as research, assets manufacturing or logistics, based on their abilities, current needs and their preferences. All forced under UNSF command, redagless of their origin before the war, will have capacity to commander any civilian assets required to achieve tactical or strategic objectives, and does not need to compensate for it immediately. Additionally, Earth Fighters and Earth Carriers are immediately approved to be adapted as primary ships used by the UNSF.
I wand to ask, since I would like tyo include this but i need help, how would normal people react to this? Would they be supportive of the measures or against them? How would that depend on their situation, their values, their political alingment?

A matter of genocide

I would like to ask you about writing about genocides., Because, as I write science - fiction stories, I stumble upon this subject quite a lot. Unusually, the side the does the genocide is the enemy side - but this is not always and one of parts of my writing I like the most (and moment I am returning often to) is when it wasn’t the case. Moment, where the protagonists made an attempt genocide of a sentient species, the Bohandi (which I was talking suite a lot about). The Battle of Bohus that took place at the end of the War of the Three Worlds.

After the Bohandi established a military base Pluto, the UNSF declared war on them and humanity mobilized for war. Along with their allies, Ptakoształtni zimni (this is their name in my native language and I was advised to use it), they fought the Bohandi across human (and Bohandi) space. With the help of Bohandi subject species humans began arming, they began to destroy the Bohandi Empire. Eventually, after about 3 months of war, humans managed to destroy the Pluto base and drive the Bohandi out of the Solar System. But by that time, all hopes of diplomatic resolutions were over. The Bohandi Empire had to be destroyed. While coordinated insurrections ripped the Bohandi Empire, humans and their allies assembled a huge fleet that headed to the Bohandi home system (which was recently located) to destroy their central command.

I have two texts about the battle itself. First I wrote quite a time ago. Other I wrote recently.

So, what do you think? Do you think I explored this right? Do you think what humans did here was justified, or did they go a step too far?

Some friendly advice. I think you're posting in the wrong forum. I think there's a forum for fiction elsewhere on the board and you might get some better feedback there.

I am planning on writing a series of stories about the BPP, and an impoirtant part of it is going to be a conflict between them and the Anti - Macaw Coalition. I will explain what both groups are about below. I would welcome any advice on writing such a conflict. It appeared in my other stories, most notbly Soldiers of Earth, but I would appreciate help with it when I am putting it into focus.

What is BPP?
To quote "Soldiers of Earth":

BPP stood for “Brazilian Protection Police”. It was a private paramilitary organization established by Jim Turner, a known traveler and organizer from north England. It was registered in Brazil and technically operated under it's law, but, in practice, because the Brazilian government was notoriously corrupt, it acted completely independent. It was officially established to protect biodiversity of Brazil and ensure fair use of natural resources, using only the surplus of any existing resource, to protect endangered species (birds especially), to collect evidence against anyone threatening such things, then arrest them and bring them for trial. Prosecutors at such trials were also often BPP members.
From the beginning, BPP was organized in a semi - military structure, although it was somewhat milder than normal military, and their field agents carried weapons for self defense, exploiting Brazilian more lenient law toward firearms. However, they quickly realized they would need to expand. They quickly came into conflict with the Anti - Macaw Coalition, and a conflict emerged. BPP quickly began sending armed parties everywhere where the Anti - Macaw Coalition was reported, and the Anti - Macaw Coalition responded by attacking all members of the BPP. What happened later was a regular war between the two organizations, a war that often ignored borders of countries, very annoying their governments. Governments mainly supported BPP, although there were several incidents where BPP agents were arrested, and the organization was fined, and some of its equipment was confiscated (this happened particularly often to armed vehicles used outside Brazil).
BPP also quickly turned to prepare for another thing: possible alien invasion. Jim Turner wasn't trusting the Bohandi, and the BPP was preparing for their attack. They organized warning systems, established plans in case of their invasion, established command structures that would work against the Bohandi, trained people and, most importantly, carried on independent research programs to create technologies that could rival alien technology (such as hand beam weapons). Of course, there were conspiracy theories that the whole research programs were a sham and the BPP was in fact reverse - engineering alien technology and introducing it as their own.
Anti - Macaw Coalition is a human supremacist group, advocating for use of all resources aviable to improve the situation of humans... And onl; humans. They don't care about other species, whatever from Earth or aliens. They would (and attempted) to happily genocide entire species that were known to be sentient. The Macaws are a symbol for them, a symbol of a "lost cause", a species that should not be saved and resources spent on trying to save them should be used to expand humans.

[Anti - Macaw Coalition members] were acting in such a way that they was little evidence to bring them to courts (and if there was something, it was on particular members and not the organization itself) while it continued illegal exploitation of resources (especially in South America and Africa), often bribing or intimidating local people and government servants, carried on raids and banditry and we're supporting numerous terrorist organizations, fininancting them and even supplying them with weapons and supplies. Not to mention performing a few terrorist attacks themselves.
An impotant events in this conflict was the Battle of the Macaw Sandstone, where Agmat, a high - ranking member of the Anti - Macaw Colaition that infiltrated a school from Poland as a teacher, led students from this school; to the sandstone and attacked it. He was stopped, but the shock from this was so big that it led to expansion of BPP's power, and directly led to the formation of the UNSF (United Nations Space Force).

To quote "Soldiers of Earth" one last time:

In October 2016, an event happened that has shaken the entire Earth, military especially. Many people agreed that this time, the Anti - Macaw Coalition went too far.
Julian Wardell only heard about it from the news. Apparently, Agmat, a teacher in the Wing School in Poznan, Poland, (and who was now revealed to be an important Anti - Macaw Coalition member), has organized a school trip to Brazil for two classes. How he managed to convince anyone it was a good idea was beneath everyone. In Brazil, he convinced one of the classes to break off with him and go attack the sole remaining known place where Blue Macaws lived, to help him to destroy it (and to capture one particular Macaw) for personal, petty reasons. It was fortunately that Miłosz, a member of the other class that was there, overheard him. He lee his class in an attempt to stop Agmat, while the second teacher there alerted the local BPP station.
Unfortunately, despite the efforts of Miłosz and his class, the settlement was devastated even before the BPP units arrived. And the particular Macaw that was a target was captured as well. Despite the help of Jim Turner’s nieces and their friends (who also happened to be there), she was taken away and the settlement was devastated. This was largerly attributed to the involvement of some lumberjack that were Agmat’s allies. Fortunately, no human children were killed or even seriously hurt, but the use of fireworks by Agmat in battle devastated the environment, forcing the surviving Macaws to evacuate to an unknown place. A few BPP operatives were killed in battle, as well as some lumberjacks. Agmat and the lumberjacks that weren't killed or escaped were arrested by the BPP. And the Anti - Macaw Coalition supported the attack. It was also revealed that the lumberjacks, although not members, were financed by the Coalition.
The events caused public outcry. Demands for harsh penalties were often given. In the military and the BPP, it became far too obvious that current system wasn't working and that the Anti - Macaw Coalition was a threat to everyone, a threat that had to be destroyed.
In the United Nations, this triggered serious talks about established a united military command. These talks were supported by the BPP.
There was one good thing that came from it, through. At least for Jim Turner. The Brazilian government increases the funding it gave to the BPP (before, it was only minimal and rather symbolic, with BPP being mainly funded by Jim Turner and some private donors). They were also given wider jurisdiction in the Brazil itself, including “to perform any actions to gather evidence and arrest people suspected of supporting or profiting from the activities of the Anti - Macaw Coalition”. It wasn't like they didn't have similar jurisdiction before, but it was greatly expanded.

Requesting opinions on one science - fiction battle I wrote and how well I did it

I wrote some science - fiction battles over the years, but I would like to improve my skills at doing it for future writing. So I would like to share one such battle I wrote I quite like personally. It takes place both in space/atmosphere and on the ground. There are two texts about it, from two perspectives. One was written when I was a teenager and the other was written quite recently. I would like to request your opinions about the battle itself and how it was described (in both texts).

Frankly it sounds like Earth becomes a global military totaliatrian government. Not my cup of tea.

In Trek terms, it sounds like a set-up for the Confederation if not the Terran Empire.

But this is not all one. These are diffrent project set in the same universe. Just to clarify. and why are you so hell bent on making life weorse for me? To reduce number of signals I am sending, thus reducing the probability, which is already pretty low, that someone will notice me.

Why have you chosen to make my life more difficcult?

Perhaps a better thread title would be "My Fiction Projects," then.

But we can't allow multiple threads going per author's project.

Then how to define whatever a story is part of the same project or not?

Because sometimes, my projects that are obviously very diffrent from each other and all crosses over with each other. I mean, it is really similar to Star Trek, and you cannot say Star trek: The next Generation and Star trek: Deep Space 9 is the same project, but there are crossovers between the two.

This thread and its current title should be able to accommodate all of your writing projects. People who are interested in discussing your posts will be able to do so.

If you keep creating new threads for each, all of your engagement will become being about creating multiple threads. That was already starting to happen. That's not the kind of reach you're looking for.

Why are you so involved in it? Why do you even care? If myou do not want to help, then I didn't want to have anything to do with you. I am not seeking enemies. But i have enough of being pushed around.

Especially considering that all projects here are not Star Trek focused, but some people may be interested in Star Trek stuff only. And it is imperative that all Star trek thread stays separate. As they are tied directly into canon charatcers and discussions about canon characters. And espeically since I am often taking advice and ideas from people, with their persmission, in such threads. And then, I must credit said people in these thread, but only for this one thread. Just so it is known whi helped me with what. Do you understand the dillema?

Not to mention, some projects are already closed and exist only so the history is recorded. So please do not change anything abut proijects that were already completed. And I thing, if I hjve separate threads for projects, I can easier close them off. and know what someone is talking about. It is more organized.

Not that this forum is even my primary place for discussing fanfiction project. It was once but, lucky for me, I moved into onto anoither place where people don't do whjat you do. Don;t make my life more difficult with some administrative, bearucratic things.

I'm one of the moderators of the Science Fiction and Fantasy forum, and the board admin. People were reporting on (and commenting in) the threads about being in the wrong forum, or starting to get snarky because of the number of threads.

By keeping it to one thread, you'll get responses from people who are genuinely interested in your fiction, instead of comments about where to post or how often.

This action is not intended to make things more difficult for you. The opposite, in fact.

I won't comment on it further in here and further derail things. However, any posts of this nature that you post in SF&F will be moved to Fan Fiction and likely merged into this thread.

All right. That I have no problems with. This is a misunderstanding, then.

I only ever posted it in SF&F forum because I wasn't sure I was allowed to post it in Fanfction forum, since it wasn't fanfiction (and I took special effort into not making it Star Trek fanfiction). As for merging, I am not that fine with it, but, as long as my StarTrek focused threads are intact, I will tolerate it.
