It's Opening Day! New ballpark in DC. Fantasy baseball. Hope that your team actually has a chance (dashed by week 2). Great to see regular season baseball is back tonight. I'd have loved to have gone to tonight's game, but tix were too pricey for the one night. Too many people with cash that want to be fans tonight.

Luckily, the Orioles will blow and I'll only have to fight the fans of the opposing teams for tickets.

Watching the Nats game now and they have Bush helping out with play-by-play.

Weird.

Yeah. Reminds me of when Ronald Reagan helped Harry Caray call some of a Cubs game years ago. Ron was not at his best, but was trying. It was kind of comical to hear 'em both stumbling through it. Bill Murry called part of another game around that same time and was just hilarious! This is prior to the subsitute announcer thing that was done for Caray in his last year or two.

ESPN wanted ratings, so they brought on the one guy people would turn off. I lost complete interest in the game when they brought on President Bush. What a dumb move by ESPN, IMO, albiet probably an unpopular one.

My friend is skipping class today to attend the Phillies opener. Kids these days, putting sports entertainment before education. Tsk, tsk.

Eh, I'm blowing off a day of work to catch the Red Sox home opener next week. Hard to say no when those sorts of things come up. Mine should be even MORE fun, with the ring ceremony and all that... :D

Wish I could blow off work to hit a game, but I cannot. I would have blown off school in a heartbeat though. Pretty exciting end to the game last night and I'm ready for some more baseball. I can't wait for it to be in the mid-70s and sunny for an afternoon game.

I'm going to the Giants Ballpark for Opening Day. They're playing in LA, but AT&T park is having something today where they are launching a renamed FSN Network and allowing fans to watch the game on the HD Scoreboard. Last day of Spring Break, might as well take advantage of it.

I was offered free tickets for the Twins opener, but even the chance to see Torii Hunter's return wasn't enticement enough to get me into the Metrodome (although with the snow today, it's good the Twins are playing in a dome). I may skip my Monday pool league banquet to watch them on TV, though.

Hey, you can tell us about how the stadium looks minus all the stuff pointing to "that guy" the Giants washed their hands of in the offseason. ;)

Yeah, it's going to look a little too plain. Evidently they took away everything having to do with Bonds. Some thanks to the guy who helped literally build the stadium to begin with. That's like changing the name of Enron field because you didn't want to have a dark spot on your record.

Yeah...I think Bonds was guilty, but the Giants happily used him for their gain for the last few years. Once they no longer needed him, they suddenly have a conscience and don't want to be tainted by his past. Really, really lame. Not surprising though. Such is big league ownership in so many sports and cities.

I took the day off to watch the final opening day at Yankee Stadium. (They're moving to a new stadium across the street next year.) So far the game is an hour late in starting because of a rain delay. With any luck they'll play by midnight.

Boy, as upset as I was of the Johan Santana trade, that Gomez kid looked great. Man, can he fly!

He had two stolen basses ... on pitch-outs!! Plus a double, bunt single and walk.

While Hunter went 0 for 4.

As tough as the AL Central is, I don't expect the Twins to be contenders this year, but it's always nice to start the season off with a win. :techman:

Speaking of Senor Santana. I could get used to watching him pitch every fifth day. Its a thing of beauty.
