Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (aka Spider-Man 2) Announced for PS5.

Who knew the P in PS5 stood for Plastic because dam that new Console has a lot of plastic on it.

Yeah, not a fan of the form-factor. Looks like it was designed to stand vertically, but in doing so, unless I'm missing something, it seems they've introduced a design flaw for those who like having it horizontal. Looks like the flare will make laying it flat impossible, which then becomes less practical.

So it's a standalone, like Uncharted Lost Legacy...
Yeah, I saw that later after I started this thread. I'm a little disappointed since I was really looking forward to a full sequel, but even a little more Insomniac Spider-Man is better than nothing. I'm curious to see how they are going to add some of Miles different abilities to the gameplay.

I finished Spiderman recently and thought it was great. But I'm not a big fan of his redesign in the remaster. The PS4 version's Peter Parker looked like Tobey Maguire and slightly older with more experience under his belt. I mean, it explained a bit the reason for all those backpacks laying around the city. For the remaster, they redesigned his look into someone who looks more generic and younger and not quite fitting his backstory.

Yeah, I'm not either. Supposedly they did it to make him look more like his voice actor, but it also makes him look way to young for the story they told in the game.

Exactly. The story alludes to him being Spidey for at least a decade or more. He has maturity, both in the way he comports himself and with his history with FEAST. It felt like he was in his mid 30's. The whole storyline with M.J is not going to work quite as well either, as I really can't see them with that kind of history if he's now supposed to be younger. Another reason I hear they've done it was for improved facial animation, but I feel they really dropped the ball in this instance. And the whole back and forth with the police Captain is going to come off really weird and awkward given the flirting between the two of them. It feels like it would be wildly inappropriate if younger.

I didn't see him as old as his 30s, I saw him more as mid 20s. 30s seems a little to old for the relationship he had with a pre-Doc Ock Otto.
That's old enough that for him to have a history with MJ and as Spidey, but not to old for the mentor/mentee relationship with Otto.
This new version barely looks like he's out of his teens.

Maybe, but either way he definitely has experience under his belt. Another thing that just came to mind is the mentorship with Miles. If he's a young Spidey, looking barely like he's out of his teens, doesn't it seem a little odd that he should be mentoring him? In this version, it looks like they went through high-school together. It just makes this whole story rather weird, and I feel they've undermined their own story. I don't feel they've really thought about the implications of the change.

Here's another bit featuring a selfie with newface and M.J.:

Did they? The only thing I know is they improved her hair. In that shot, her hair looks more natural, while in the PS4 version it was more matted.

I thought she might have looked different when I read that article last night, but I wasn't sure.

Of course, the difference we may be seeing might be due to a pre-rendered image used as a photo for the Miles game. And those almost always look way more glossier than their representations in the actual game.
Good point, you're probably right.

I certainly hope that's all it is! The PS4 version of her character was nearly perfect, and the reveal of the PS5 Spiderman has been quite a disappointment each time I hear more of it. I know it's likely not deliberate, but it feels like they took an already great game and questionable design decisions have downgraded it.
