Spoilers Loose endz….

I think if the entire Internet goes down permanently we'd probably have bigger things to worry about than whether we can stream Prodigy or not.

I have all of TOS & TNG on physical media absent Nemesis & TUC. Will rectify the latter soon. Also picked up the first 10 of PRO after the cancellation.

DS9 & TAS will be next, I think I will just move chronologically forward. I hope they release a DISCO package with all 5 seasons.

There are three possibilities here...

1. Prodigy S2 will never see the light of day. Ergo, everything set up in S1's finale will be a forever loose end. Even if the events of S2 become public, they are essentially like Wes's cameo in "Nemesis": it was shot, but never part of the actual movie/show, so it never happened.
2. S2 is released at some point, but that's all we get. There may or may not be loose ends. It will depend on whether the writers expected a third season when they did the second.
3. Someone else takes an interest in Prodigy, and it continues for additional seasons. So everything they planned to do in S3 happens. What that was, of course, is unknown. It's been theorized that Harry Kim was supposed to show up, but no way to know.

Wesley is still in the final release version of Nemesis. Just doesn't have any lines.

The scene with dialogue was cut out. He still has a cameo in the finished film, sitting at the wedding table.
Well, apparently they considered cutting out his dialogue to be sufficient justification for declaring that he didn't return to Starfleet. Because obviously, they later rewrote his ultimate destiny.

Note that Harry Kim could well be part of season 2. We were promised two appearances of notable legacy characters (beyond those already present, like Janeway and Chakotay) from 2 different series, in S2. It is still not known who, but after the news regarding his actor and Picard S3, he is one of the leading candidates for the potential Voyager spot.

I hope you're right. I would dearly love to see the "eternal ensign" crowd's dreams lying shattered on the floor in a million pieces once and for all.

You do know that you're quite possibly the only person who actually cares about Harry's rank anymore, right? There isn't a crowd of people who are calling for Harry to be an ensign forever.

I think it's more the jokes that have come from it too.

"Dal graduated from Starfleet Academy as a lieutenant. Too bad Harry has to call him sir."

I still see jokes around in each sub forum here. It's not that people are calling for it; it's that it's now a perpetual joke.

I know, but I think Oddish may be taking it a bit too seriously. Unless he's also joking, in which case I apologise. If Harry appears with a rank above ensign, no one's dreams will be "lying shattered on the floor in a million pieces".

Oh, I'm definitely taking it way too seriously. But this whole thing has bothered me for years... and they look to be on the verge of fixing it, first in "Picard" and then in "Prodigy"... and then they don't. So yeah, it's frustrating. And if you've never experienced life on the autism spectrum, I can tell you that frustration is not something we weather well.

As to your last, consider... there are quite a few commentators who have made similar complaints about Harry bring overlooked, and if they're not as intense as I am, they have a wider audience. Trekculture put it at #1 on their list of Janeway's worst actions, for crying out loud, and I can name a couple other sites that have mentioned it prominently (Screenrant, Redshirts Always Die, etc). So why in the Vaults of Eternal Destitution hasn't any of the shows spent ten seconds of footage to shut us up once and for all? All they have to do is mention Harry Kim at any rank above ensign, and it's locked into canon and we're satisfied. The only logical conclusion is that there are people who take the opposite position, and the writers don't want to upset them, either.

With Aaron Waltke also talking about "dangling threads" here https://screenrant.com/star-trek-pr...tribution&utm_source=SR-TW&utm_campaign=SR-TW , I'm in the mood for some speculation considering this:
On top of that, there are a lot of dangling threads from the end of season 1. The biggest one is the aftermath of what they learned about Solum. Asencia is still out there. And specifically, Gwen now has this burden of knowing that unless she does something, she can't prevent the disaster that will befall her civilization. So she's going to try to find a way. And the complications that come from that. There's a lot to look forward to in season 2 between time travel nerds, for Starfleet lovers, and just general lovers of science fiction.

We also learned earlier (from an interview with the actress) that Ascencia will get a more complex relationship with Gwyn, in season 2.
With Waltke also noting that Asencia is out there, what would happen with that character?

There are two Asencia's to consider, a young one on present day Solum and the older one that calls herself "the Redeemer". Gwyn almost certainly has to interact with at least one of them, maybe both.

What would the older Ascencia "The Redeemer" do after the events of the finale? She may kick herself for not killing the Protostar's crew when she had the chance, as the effects of the construct on Starfleet probably aren't quite what she had been hoping for.

So, what would her options be to turn up in S2?

Ascencia could do the following:
-decide that she has done enough (if she thinks Starfleet got the hint to stay away from Solum) and do as the Diviner also planned to do: retire to Solum in the present day. She could also go there in other to protect it, with her ship of the REV class (if she still has access to it). Either way, no doubt if she goed to present Solum she will come across Gwyn and maybe some Starfleet personnel and some form of confrontation will follow.

-attempt again to harm the Federation, using other means now that the construct is gone. In that case, we can expect Dal and co to run into her at some point.

-or seek a second chance to deploy the construct, if she somehow learns about the timey-wimey wormhole. She could see this as an opportunity to get hold anew of the Protostar, after it was fitted with the construct but before Chakotay could launch it back prematurely. In that case, Dal and Janeway and co will run into her, either before they can enter the wormhole themselves (you know this is coming, as it is the only way to save Chakotay) or once they are near/on future Solum.

I would expect that the climax of this storyline will somehow involve the entire crew, unless it's earlier in the season than I'm now expecting, so some sort of connection between Gwyn and the others will likely be made.

As for other "dangling threads from S1" (besides the Starfleet training of the kids and the Solum situation including Chakotay), I would guess that Dal's origins may get a second look.
