Spoilers Loose endz….

It has just dawned upon me that if Prodigy is indeed truly cancelled and deleted from canon as represented in the public domain, there will be *many* loose ends that need tying up.

I will list some of my loose ends, you can also add some of yours if you would like. :)

  1. Chakotay, where art though?
  2. Gwyn… what ya up to????
  3. Pog?????

Salamander children.
This is a general Trek question and belongs in the Voyager forum, unless you think that Prodigy can help answer the question in some way? Are you saying that Chakotay has gone to rescue Janeway and Paris’s babies? I could imagine Chakotay going on a mission to rescue his former lover and ex enemies salamander children, out of duty. I do dislike how in Voyager the confrontational behavior between Chakotay and Tom Paris was soon dropped, despite how it shows their futuristic moral values. The pair actually barely spoke to each other beyond a professional level for the rest of the series though, if you think about it. Was it ever explained what Chakotay and Paris’ problem was, btw? Was it the fact that Chakotay was a true Maquis with a cause and Tom Paris just joined as he had been chucked out of Starfleet and needed a gang to join as a grunt? I always got the impression that Paris had p*ssed Chakotay off in some way?

Perhaps season 2 explained it all, but now we may never know.
why would it be deleted from canon?
Because the Diviner said so, hehe.

To be honest I have my own ideas of why Prodigy may have been cancelled. Star Trek may be allegorical sometimes, and Prodigy may have taken a few steps too far? Either that or the toon just did not get the necessary audience appreciation and viewing figures necessary for the series to be picked up?

I notice that Nickelodeon have remained silent? Have they dropped Prodigy? Could they still broadcast season 2?

4. What the Voyager-A looks like.

I have forgotten a lot of how the series ended, but I really wanted to know more about Gwyn. I forget if the Diviner died or not, but it would have been nice to see him turn to good, and if he and Gwyn ever made up. As the last of their species (that we know of), their story could have been interesting.

This would only be the case if a future Trek series flat out contradicts Prodigy with Paramount's blessing, especially with Janeway and Chakotay.

It's far more likely any new Trek series that chronologically takes place after Prodigy will just simply ignore it altogether like previous Trek series did with TAS until Lower Decks.

The biggest open end of the series (as of the end of S1) is what exactly the deal is with Solum and Starfleet. Who was/is the Diviner within Solum? How does Solum society work, and coupled to that, why did first contact lead to all destroying civil war? What did Starfleet do, right or wrong?
PS: the Divinir died, but Gwyn will undoubtedly meet a much younger version of him on the present day Solum. A storyline I am (was?) very much looking forward to.

And beside that, I suppose more could be revealed about Dal's origins (how did he end up with Nandi? Exactly who "made" him?) and there is of course Chakotay and Janeway.

Something smaller, that may never be revealed even if S2 get shown, is how the Protostar ended up within Tars Lamora. We saw it escape from Solum, but how did it end up within an asteroid with the ramp down?

And there is of course the question of all the kids ending up in Starfleet for real, but that seems like a given anyway.

Trek shows have been unavailable outside home video (or even bootlegs) before.

If they aired, they are and remain canon, especially if they have been declared so.

Even TOS being contradicted by SNW does not render TOS “non-canon.”

Why would Prodigy have to be erased from canon though?
That I think is highly unlikely. It actually fits into canon a lot better than some series do.

Also, if it WAS indeed de-canonized (somehow), then wouldn't the 'lose ends' you (and others) mentioned be rendered moot because if the show is decanonized, every loose end that arose from the series wouldn't have any impact on the canon to begin with.

I was not saying that Prodigy needs to be erased from canon. I think that Prodigy was a beautifully made production on all levels. I jumped to the ‘erasure from canon’ hypothesis as a result of:
  1. Paramount+ removing the series from streaming as well as not renewing, with no one else picking Prodigy up.
  2. Only half of season 1 has been released on physical media, will the rest of the season see the light of day? What if the internet goes down and we cannot stream the show anymore? Season 1, part 2 would be well and truly ‘lost’.
  3. Season 2, having already been made, may not be broadcast… this would make it the equivalent of all of those lost chapters and books of the Bible, but for the ‘Star Trek’ bible, not the *real* Bible. I’m sure that someone will eventually leak season 2 of Prodigy though if no one picks it up, though I do not endorse or encourage such a data breach in any way. Prodigy season 2 may possibly even become ‘abandonware’ one day? There could be a wiki-tv website which is free to broadcast unwanted television shows both past and present, advertisement free, though monetary donations would be encouraged to support the content creators.
Ironically, did you know that some of the lost books of the Bible have allegedly made their way in to Star Trek? I learnt recently that the book of Enoch for example, is loosely based on ‘Arena’, or vice versa.

I think if the entire Internet goes down permanently we'd probably have bigger things to worry about than whether we can stream Prodigy or not.
