Lonely Among Us Rewatch

I hadn't watched this one for a long time. Amazingly, it was one of my favorites when Season 1 first aired. Now, it just seems very bizarre. In addition to the nonsensical plot about the entity jumping into different characters and parts of the ship's computer, we have the crew allowing the aliens to kill and eat animals and their enemy race.

I genuinely did like Wesley's sweater. I also thought Dorn did a good job when they picked him up and he acted stunned, looking back and forth drunkenly.

There was some tech that was only used in this episode: Crusher's odd headgear and Troi's hypnosis thingie.

The weirdest thing was the Sensor Monitoring room. I finally realized they redressed a corridor/engineering with a false wall filled with lots of interfaces.

Yeah, the ending where it's all but shown on screen where one delegate ate the delegate of the other faction, being a joke, was really bad. Attempted TOS "end-of-episode joke" but, wow, that was bad.

The actual delegate factions are extremely well-realized.

The groovy glasses monitor unit idea came back for the Dominion in DS9, or a variant of it. So glad it's not the pilot of the ship wearing one of those, to be distracted while driving and all. I don't recall Troi's hypnotic doodly at all...

Didn't Worf or someone have a strange line about helping the entity, partially made unintelligible by the blue lightning zappy-zaps?

The sensor monitoring room was otherwise cool, and the angled middle became a bridge set or cockpit for about three dozens aliens (very well redressed, don't get me wrong), but I'm surprised they didn't cordon off part of a crew quarters room or redress cargo bay like the guest lounge in a couple of episodes, like "The Neutral Zone", instead but with the cozy sofas removed, etc.

It's a very TOS-esque episode, much better than "The Naked Mindnumb" or whatever it was called, surprisingly rewatchable overall, but still had a couple issues of course...
