Fleet Captain
Finished rewatching this great show a few days ago. It ended over twenty years ago. I forgot just how diversely bonkers many of the plotlines are. I love the recurring guest cast, and of course the main cast. Each series is very different in tone. I think 2 is my favourite in terms of striking a balance between seriousness and camp while still have self-contained stories and an overarching plot.

Lexx is probably the most unique and strange sci-fi I've ever seen. And definitely some of what they did way back then couldn't be done today. E.g. alien carrot probes that enter people through their ass.

I'm going to hunt down the original DVDs as they probably have the best quality.

How did you watch it? Not sure the DVDs would look better than streaming and from what I remember they got dumped on one of those cheap bulk releases at the end.

Downloaded a torrent. Don't have access to a streaming service that has it.

Even the Echo Bridge releases are hard to find these days. So I'm going to see if I can collect the early '00s Acorn Media releases of Series 2-4. In terms of DVDs, that'd be about 15 DVDs for 57 episodes instead of some of the releases which cram all 61 onto 9 discs.

Unfortunately, it looks like Canada has limited streaming options. In the US, all four seasons are free on Vudu and Freevee.

I think I have those sets on DVD somewhere buried in boxes somewhere but don't actually remember the picture quality.

The last episode featured a massive rocket Dr. Longbore had called Noah…I remember they multiplied images of the Space Shuttle Main Engines to make it look like Musk’s HLLV.

*psst*

It's all on Youtube

Loved the show, absolutely one of a kind.

Not every episode. I can't find "I Worship His Shadow" anywhere anymore.

I think the 4 TV Movies and S2 were the best. Once they started the Heaven/Hell stuff and then came to Earth in S4 it started falling apart.

I have the original Acorn dvds. I did a rewatch a couple years ago, it was on IMDBTV. (I think it has turned into FreeVee.)

It was probably the most unique scifi series I've ever seen because it was so insane, but I loved it.

It was also a lot deeper than it appears.

The original 4 movies were each sold seperately. I would imagine they are hard to find, since they are out of print.

Yeah, Series 1 and 2 are much more peculiar and less conventional than the last two. Still, the show on a whole is a hell of a ride. And if one thinks about how the show left things, it doesn't end quite as well for our main characters as much as we might want to believe.

Agreed. I actually met all the leads years ago at a convention. (Except for the original Zev.) They were a fun group of people who clearly had fun making the show.

I must be way too dense. Lexx confused me to no end.

And I admit I never in a million years would have guessed that one of the actors from Corner Gas, of all places, would appear in it!
