Leverage - TV show

Captain Craig

Any other fans?

I just finished S1 and was impressed more at the end than when I started. Not they type show I normally would've tried except Christian Kane is in the cast.

Found out the two main leads still haven't sold me.
Timothy Hutton(Nate) as a functioning drunk is played out. Hopefuly with some resolution in the S1 finally he can move past his anger since revenge was gotten for what IYS did, or didn't do, for his son.
Gina Bellman(Sophie) also doesn't impress me. Period. She isn't bad just not a good lead in this role imo.

Was not disappointed with Christian Kane as the muscle of the show.

My two surprises are Beth Reisgraf(Parker) and Aldis Hodge(Hardison) both of these are great. Beth does a great job with her facial expressions and body language to sell Parker's social awkardness. Aldis has some good comedic timing. His outtakes in one episode had me laughing, not sure how they chose which ad lib to go with.

Questions without too many spoilers:
-Do they stay in that mansion from the end of S1?
-Does Nate's ex-wife Maggie come back into play as a regular or recurring role?
-Do Parker and Hardison hook up, she clearly was trying to show intrest when she said, "Lets see how hard you look."
-Does Stirling resurface? Having a foil is what really turned the show in my favor.

Hmm, it's good fun. I like the plots and the action, but the character writing is pretty poor really, I don't really feel connected to any of the characters or care about their fates.

Also the portrayal of alcoholism in it was far too shallow, made a bit of a joke of it and didn't really treat it with the gravity it deserves. And nobody is really convincing in their role except for Christian Kane, who is has a very simple role to play but does it exceptionally well.

I've only recently discovered Leverage (thank god for TNT ON Demand), and I've simply fallen in love with this show. I really got into the characters right away and their little quirks and foibles are what sells the entire series for me. I love the entire cast. I admit that at first, I still saw Timothy Hutton as he was eons ago in Ordinary People and Taps, but his role as Nate has me looking at him in a totally new light...

No

We see her again.

Oh yea.

Just discovered it this week, as Bravo are rerunning season 1- it's fun, sort of Hustle/Mission Impossible/Ocean's, and I'd rather see it than not, but it doesn't strike me as must-see TV like Lost or The Wire.

But I'll continue to enjoy it when I remember it's on.

I really like this show. I'm another one who "rediscovered" Timothy Hutton; he was a big crush of mine in his Taps and Falcon and the Snowman days.

The functioning alcoholic thing does work for me - it's not played for laughs, but in S1, Nate is not ready to admit his drinking is a problem. And, oddly enough, when he is drinking, he is actually less mean as a person. It blunts his edges while conversely making him uninhibited enough to pull of some really insane cons. Too many time, TV only addresses the falling-down-drunk vs. sober reformed alcoholic. Over the 1st season, you really get a sense of this gang becoming a family, and feeling helpless. I understand that when Leverage first aired, the eps were shown out of order, which messed up this story arc.

The dialogue is so wonderful sometimes, that I find myself tucking away odd lines for future use. Like, That's twenty pounds of crazy in a five pound bag. Priceless.

Funny, as I though Riesgraf was the weakest part of the show for a while. She's improved though, and her character has become more interesting over seasons 2 & 3.

With that said, I found season 2 inconsistent, but season 3 has gotten back into form.

It's fun fluff. :) I never thought I'd see the day where I'd enjoy something Dean Devlin was involved with.

Thanks! :techman:

I've added S2 to my Netflix queue and will be watching them next month. I'm going to watch Dresden Files this month.

Glad to know Stirling is still going to be a thorn.
Some more Maggie, but not regular cast, I'll take it.
I know I could go to Wikipedia, IMDB or the official website but figured those aren't spoiler free.

I've really enjoyed this show. S1 was a great introduction to the show and I was hooked by episode two. I missed the season premiere so I have some catch up to do, can't wait!

S1-Lots of fun
S2-weak and uneven, with one or two episodes that made up for every weak one
S3-has been great so far

I like Sophie-there's chemistry there between her and Hutton. Parker is my hands-down fav, she's so strange and has such a bizarre approach to life that she really stands out. The guys are great fun, with Hutton actually putting in the worst performance of the three sometimes.

Hi All of you! I have read all these post, I think This show is very good. But I have never seen this show. Can you tell me where I can watch Leverage TV show online.

tnt.tv airs a few episodes. I don't know of any other online legal source.

I really enjoy this show. It gives me a nice good feeling. This week's episode had Parker playing a hybrid of Lady Gaga and Bjork that was just hilarious.

And if they ever have to recast Wolverine Christian Kane could play him.

Add me to the list of Leverage fans. They are like the A Team but they follow a methodology closer to that of the Mission Impossible team. Parker is the right kind of crazy to make her one of the funnest characters on TV today.

I like it enough. It's better than what I've tried watching of the newer series on tv but it only just kept my attention. Season 3 has picked up and improved it so it at least has gotten better.

I've just started S2 via Netflix and could only view the first 3 episodes due to a glitch. Got 1/2 way into the Godfairy Mother Job and it froze and will not jump past.

Anyway of the 3 whole episodes I saw I liked them all. Really liked the second episode about the Nebraska MMA fight promoter who drugged the water and caused career ending damage to one of the fighters.

The third episode about the hedge fund manager was decent but I really found myself more interested in Elliot dealing with the abusive father on the side.

The ponzi scheme story looks good so far and once again the showrunners found a way to create some recurring characters. The two FBI agents from S1 who 'broke the Meth ring' while halting a robbery in TX. If the episode handn't locked up at the 26min mark I'd know how that ends.

What I want to know is just how do people find 'Team Leverage'? S1 they had an office and a legit profile. S2 they are just running out of Nat's apartment, new city etc, so how do people find them? Locally or otherwise? I'd have to think an internet page advertising their services would be red flags they don't need.

Same here. I think of it as an American Hustle without the charm. It seems to get better as it goes on though so I'm sticking with it.

I'm a big fan. I'm absolutely in love with Parker. I can completely relate to the weird way she views the world and the awkwardness she feels when she has to be social. I also enjoy some of the ongoing gags, like how everyone is better at being someone else than themselves (Parker, for instance, can pretend to be a normal person for short amounts of time as long as she's grifting, and Sophie can actually act when she has to pretend to be an actress rather than really trying to be one).

Really fun show. Glad I gave it a chance.

Funny how many of us are just discovering this show. I too have been Netflixing it and just finished disc 2 of season 2. I'm rather enjoying that there is commentary from writers/producers/directors for every episode so far. That's been fun, to hear them talk about how they came up with and researched the stories. Their delight in "The Evil Speech of Evil" tickles me, too. ;)

I just got my last disc last night for S2.
Watched 'Future Job' which guest stars Luke Perry.

I really like Jeri Ryan as the grifter so much better than Gina Bellman/Sophie. Did Gina need a leave from the show to do something else? There has to be a real world reason she isn't around.

I've got two more episodes to go and I'll be done with S2, how much longer do I have to wait for S3? Is it still airing first run episodes?
