Lauren Lee Smith better actress than Katie Sackhoff

Jorja Fox's replacement found

Smith is expected to play the character of Bryce Adams, a "flirtatious, witty and strong-willed non-conformist" that is recruited to join the graveyard shift — also known as the role that Katee Sackhoff inexplicably got passed over for.

In addition to L Word, Smith was a regular on the syndicated series Mutant X and had a role in the CBS comedy pilot, Can Openers, which failed to make it on the fall sked.
Lauren Lee Smith, the actress that started her fame with Mutant-X, a critically panned yet fun and highly successful syndicated show makes the audition over Katie Sackhoff, an actress that started her fame with NuBSG, a critically loved show yet a snoozer and a failure in the ratings. Now given the fact that CSI is technically the highest rated scripted show on TV and a very high step up to say the least, what did the producers and casting directors see in Lee-Smith over Sackhoff? Could it be that Sackhoff actually has limited range in her acting ability, but Lee-Smith has better abilities and range of emotions? ;)

When I saw Sackhoff in the abysmal Bionic Woman remake, she was just the same mopey Starbuck-lite character on that show, no wonder she got passed over for CSI.

Yes, I don't like Sackhoff as an actress. Sue me. :p And I am happy with this news. Lee-Smith deserved it. :)

As a fan of Mutant X, I'm happy for Lauren Lee Smith. As someone who thinks Katee Sackhoff is over-rated, I'm happy I won't have her on one of my favorite shows.

I'm happy for Lauren. I enjoyed her work on "Mutant X" but confess I haven't seen much else of her work.

Katee has a good range and is a good actor IMO. She's shown that in nu-BSG and Bionic. Mopey isn't ALL she does. :)

I think you must be watching shows from a different alternate timeline than the one I'm getting. I was amazed by how completely different she was from Starbuck in her Bionic Woman role. I'd grown to loathe the Starbuck character and assumed I'd hate any other Sackhoff character I saw, but she was by far the most engaging and compelling performer on Bionic Woman. The characters did have some similar aspects -- toughness, angst, etc. -- but she really transformed her voice, appearance, and behavior to the point that I barely recognized her.

False.

When I saw the first episode of Bionic Woman I felt the same way, but now I think it was low expectations. Looking back I don't think she was all that good in it.

You can't possibly say that statement is false, because the statement is about how I perceived her in the show. You may have perceived her in a different way, and that's entirely valid, but it is literally true that I had trouble recognizing her as the same actress.

I definitely agree we were watching two different programs. Sarah Corvus was a lighter rehash of Starbuck, anyone with good eyes would see that. But I am glad to see not everyone bows at the altar of the temple of Sackhoff!

I love Sackhoff, so I was disappointed to see her passed over for the part. I've only seen Smith in a few episodes of Mutant X and don't really remember much about her. Hopefully she's a good choice.
