For me, A Tale of Two Sisters (2003). Korean horror film. Beautifully shot, with some terrific acting and highly atmospheric sequences. A little slow though, and not a whole lot of payoff in terms of scares, short of one great jump scare.

I rewatched "Bottle Rockets" on Hulu just yesterday. I liked it the first time I saw it but it seemed even better the second time. Wes Anderson is a great filmmaker. The final robbery is very funny and I like how casual the characters are even if they are in conflict.

You don't want to record those off Syfy. They most likely edit the movie to death. Never trust basic cable to give you the REAL version of a movie unless it's TMC or IFC. Sundance use to show the real versions but even they went over to the dark side a few years ago. You think this barbaric editing would have gone away by now. I expect a conspiracy. Don't give people the good versions or they won't go buy the dvd!

The Purge: Election Year

I missed it when it was in theaters and just caught it on HBO. Not bad, but the second one is still my favorite of the series. I like how each successive movie expands on the universe established in the first film instead of just being a series of disconnected stories like a lot of horror films are. It's not deep by any means, but it has something to say and is more topical than your typical horror movie fare.
