I'm in the mood for some simple TV about cool cars.

I remember I watched all the episodes because I was such a big fan of the original series but, boys, what a chore! Not everyone made in 80s deserves to be rebooted (or whatever term is fancy to use today).

Really? i loved it as a kid.
Well probably because I wasn't a kid in the 2008... :( But I was during the original show and loved it! But recently I watched some episodes of the original and...

"Hurry up! Go and use ultra-futuristic technologies (which introduced to the market would potentially save millions of people) to investigate a rigged beauty pageant and/or a midwest single mom!!

These are the real priorities!" <- every original KR episode

2008 Knight Rider was... well, it was something. It's like someone took classic Knight Rider and threw it in a blender with The Fast and the Furious and Michael Bay's Transformers movie. And well, this was what we got. Ironically they tried to do a mid-season reboot where they dumped some excess characters and started doing stories that made it feel a lot more in line with the classic show, but by then the audience had left and NBC canceled it.

Well I was 7 at the time.

I thought the 2008 version of the show was pretty fun for what it was. It at least treated the show as a sequel, which at the time was almost unheard of in the industry, before every other show started doing sequel series. I never quite warmed up to KITT as a Mustang or Val Kilmer's voice though.

Speaking of the Love Bug, I'd love to see either a new movie or a series. I even liked the Lindsay Lohan movie. But perhaps I'd like to see something that brings it back to its roots.

I was watching some episodes of this last night when I couldn't sleep. It's a fun show.

The retooling of this show is what the new Quantum Leap season 2 has felt like to me so far.

I watched both the original Knight Rider when it came out and this show when it came out. Neither are super great shows. But they're entertaining. I do think Knight Rider 2008 is far better than folks give it credit for. It definitely better than the Knight Rider movie that came out in the early 2000s with a red KITT.

Right now, I'm watching a lot of shows that came out between 2000 and 2008. There is something about shows in this era. They're not as dark as the ones in the 90s. And after the GFC, TV changed a bunch. Became far more serious and less fun. I still enjoy it, but sometimes I gotta go back and watch older shows.

I remember when I actually saw that on TV and I was super confused at what I was seeing. It's only ever loosely based on Knight Rider. I think they only mention the past once or twice in passing, and the setting is completely different. It's like they saw Mad Max's popularity and wanted to cash in on it. It was also if I remember correctly, part of the Action PAK, and they were hoping it would lead to a new series. At around the same time, they also tried to reboot Smokey and the Bandit with a series of TV movies.

The Action Pack weekend did have some good shows.
