Wow, and I was watching The Creature from the Black Lagoon just the other day along with The Shape of Water.

Julie Adams, the comely brunette with the cascading curls best remembered as the damsel in distress in the 1954 horror classic Creature From the Black Lagoon, has died. She was 92.

Adams died early Sunday morning in in Los Angeles, CA, her son Mitch Danton told The Hollywood Reporter.

In more than six decades in film and on television, Adams also starred with Donald O'Connor in Francis Joins the WACS (1954), played opposite Elvis Presley in Tickle Me (1965) and appeared with Dennis Hopper in The Last Movie (1971) and with John Wayne in McQ (1974).

Sad to hear. I actually had an autographed photo of her on my office wall for years.

(Still have the photo. Just haven't had a chance to rehang it since we moved.)

Moved on, but she will always be remembered. Undoubtedly one of the key faces of 1950s cinema, despite how many film fans or historians would deny it.

Two additional Julie Adams fantasy credits of note include:

  • Rod Serling's Night Gallery - "The Miracle at Camafeo" (NBC, 1/19/1972)
  • Kolchak: The Night Stalker - "Mr. R.I.N.G." (ABC, 1/10/1975)

That's a nice, long life, but it's always sad to see a life come to an end. She was possessed of a stunning beauty that radiated sweetness and brightened the world.

RIP, Julie Adams. :(

Just read her obit in the New York Times. Had no idea she continued working well into the 21st century, and was even a regular on Murder She Wrote.

I'm wearing a CREATURE shirt in her honor today. Really.

Saw this news yesterday, it's sad to hear. I watched Creature from the Black Lagoon for the first a few years ago, and really enjoyed it.

Strange. I only remember her from a movie she did with Tyrone Power and an episode of "LOST". R.I.P. Ms. Adams.

She played Helen Archer in One Step Beyond: 'Epilogue' in 1959. William Schallert, from 'The Trouble with Tribbles', was also in that.

RIP
