Jeri Ryan (AKA 7 of 9) to Guest Star on Law & Order: SVU in April

It is sad that Jeri's show Shark got cancelled, but now she is going to be on a couple episodes of Law & Order: SVU as a defense attorney (I think).

Well, I guess I have to start watching it again.

I've been watching this series for years but I did quit recently when they replaced ADA Casey Novak with a lousy third-rate lookalike. Fortunately, the series is on re-run on another channel I can catch and they are in season 3 right now.

If Ryan's character will replace the third-rate Novak lookalike, it might be a reason for me to start watching it regularily again.

Stephanie March has been a "special guest star" on the show the last couple of episode as ADA Alex Cabot. I prefer her as ADA, though I don't understand why they gave the last two the boot. If I had to vote between March and Ryan then my vote would go to March. But I don't think she is up for that job, but I could be wrong.

I really doubt that Jeri would take a regular role on a show shooting in NY, given that her home is in LA.

Cabot was actually OK, even if I think that Novak was better. I'm rewatching the early episodes now when Cabot is the ADA. Good character.

It was the decision to dump Novak and replace her with a third-rate lookalike I couldn't accept. I saw no reason for that change.

As for Jeri, I guess that teya has a point here. There is after all a distance between LA and NY and I do think that Jeri has other things to take care off, such as a restaurant.

Cabot was hit or miss, sometimes she'd be accomidating and understanding, and other times she'd indict the hot dog vendor a block away as a co conspiritor because she didn't like the mole on his face, but you can't deny she had one of the best L&O monents ever... "Is it because I'm gay?"

From what I recall around the time of the finale last season the actress who played her said in an interview that she was called into the Producers office and he told her that she was Fired and then dismissed her. I think she said they didn't even give her a reason.

i'm pretty sure that 10 seconds after she left the new person came out from under the producers desk, wiped a little off the cheek and asked him when to be on set

While good news, I kinda of hoped she turned up in CSI or NCIS instead (like the Borg Queen).

Don't really watch much American tv these days, but I'll tune in [illegally download] to see her, just hope I don't have to throw something at the tv when Mariska HAGarty appears and smooches all the screen time.

While it is a good point that Jeri has a restaurant & family in LA, that might not stop her from taking a job in NYC. That's part of an actors life.

Who knows why they are playing musical ADAs on SVU. Honestly, I haven't had problems with any of them, though again Alex was my favorite.

Agreed on both counts.
Besides, Jeri is just co-owner of the restaurant, not the head chef. It can run fine without her needing to be there.

Yes, I read something similar about that and then you'll understand why I decided to call it a day and quit the series.

I just hate when producers behaves like a*****es and treat their actors like that.

Didn't her spin off show "Conviction" fail?

Sounds like they had planned her character to leave the series long in advance one way or another anyway.
