iZombie Season 1 Discussion and Spoilers

Saga

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral

A medical student who becomes a zombie joins a Coroner's Office in order to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat so that she can maintain her humanity. But every brain she eats, she also inherits their memories. Now she uses her abilities to solve their deaths with help from the Medical examiner and a police detective.

i've never read the comic this is based on so i'm not sure how closely it follows. i thought the first episode was a good start. though, it felt like shades of Veronica Mars. mostly with the dialogue and voice over. guess thats inevitable since both shows are from Rob Thomas.

Never saw Veronica Mars, so it was naturally something that stood on its own for me.

I liked it. It had humor, the mystery/crime-solving angle, and perhaps the cutest and sympathetic brain-eating zombie I've ever come across. That's enough to keep me coming back for more.

There was this surreal point during season one where Veronica tried to explain to the baddies that they were not above the law and that she was going to get them.

Well worth binging over a couple weekends.

It doesn't follow the comic at all. The only relation it has to the comic is the name 'izombie'. Even the lead character's name is different. Doesn't bother me because I expect some differences between adaptations.

But people coming to this show looking for the comic will be disappointed.

The undead girls name is Liv(e)?

Second name is Moore.

Moore (or less a)liv(e)?

Go #### yourself Rob Thomas.

Are you trying to psychologically condition us with subliminal messages?

Liked it. Was wondering when they were going to have her start to go full zombie. Glad they didn't save it for later. I can see the possibility that down the road she may not be able to pull back so easily. I also liked the solution of the whodunit. Adding to DVR list.

By the numbers.

Liked it.

I think that sums it up. I'll watch next week.

Pilots are expected to service a lot of stuff to satisfy the network people. If this is going to be interesting it should start to show in the second episode.

I wonder if a single pitch or story conference happens where the phrases "She's not Buffy" or "That's too Buffy" are not uttered?

I haven't read the comic, so I haven't a clue. Seems like an obvious suggestion that the Utopia drug is connected to the zombie outbreak, yes? I assume part of the ongoing drama will be about how zombies are a thing in the first place.

I wonder if she super gorges herself, that Liv's IQ can see 200 points eating dust in her rear view mirror?

Screw you Walter O'Brien?

So, who makes the drug? Is zombification an unintended side effect or are they after something - and when they realize that there's actually a high-functioning superhuman "test subject" loose out there what happens?

I really enjoyed it, and I'll be curious to see what Liv is like now that's not clinically depressed over being dead.

I'd forgotten that it supposedly takes place in Seattle. In the pilot, that just amounted to a few establishing shots of the Space Needle and Mount Rainier, but it would be nice if they could work in some more local color at some point.

The zombie at the end was the guy on the boat from the beginning.

Julian Sark from Alias or Dr Whale/Frankenstein from Once Upon a Time.

He's not a big name, but he's very good at being a smarmy shit, and it would have been a waste of his talent if Dave was only in just the one episode for all of 15 seconds.

Good catch.

He was also the evil uncle in the first couple seasons of VAMPIRE DIARIES.

"Hey, you got Bryan Fuller in my Rob Thomas show!"

"No, you got Rob Thomas in my Bryan Fuller show!"

iZombie: Two great tastes, that taste great together!

:techman:

Ah, so he's the Big Bad this year?

Wait a minute, the ex's name is Major Lilywhite!? They're laying it on pretty thick, aren't they?
