Which sequence do you think the first three Indiana Jones films should be viewed in?

Production Order (as shown on SciFi):

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

In story chronological order of the opening sequence (as shown on Spike):

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. This reflects the 1912 sequence in Utah.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Opening Sequence in 1935 Shanghai.
Raiders of the Last Ark. Opening sequence in 1936 South America.

Or do you think ...The Last Crusade should be the last film to view, since most of the plot follows the sequence aboard the ship off the coast of Portugal in 1938.

Production order. Even though Temple of Doom takes place before Raiders, there are some gags (like Indy forgetting his gun) that will not be anywhere near as funny without having seen Raiders. Plus, Raiders effectively establishes Indy's character and world. Temple of Doom hops right in.

Watching Last Crusade because it starts with a flashback is just silly.

Harrison Ford's fourth appearance as Indiana Jones can be found in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, if you want to throw that into the mix. I forget what year it is when we see Indy (played by Ford) on the show.

The Mystery of the Blues - the non-flashback part of the adventure was in 1950.

Another vote for production order :)

What volume of the Chronicles is the Harrison Ford ep in?

Production order. I think Temple of Doom makes sense as a prequel, but it's designed to be watched after you've been introduced to the characters in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Production order.
I just watched Temple of Doom last night and its true the gag where he thinks he'll just shoot the Khali swordsman, ala the Raiders scene, is only funny if you watch Raiders first. From a hindsight perspective it does say the character, Indy, would prefer to avoid physical fights he suspects are against him even before the Cairo swordsman.

1. Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, baby Indy episodes.
2. Last Crusade 'tween Indy opening sequence
3. Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, teen Indy episodes (minus the Harrison Ford bookends from "Mystery of the Blues")
4. Temple of Doom
5. Raiders of the Lost Ark
6. Last Crusade, adult Indy portion of film
7. "Mystery of the Blues" Harrison Ford bookends.
8. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I guess you could watch all the George Hall Young Indy bookends last, if you had access to them.

In production order of course, a situation that will not change unless they make a prequel.

Prouction order.

However, if, like most of us, you know the characters then I might have to try Doom, Raiders, Crusade and see how they scan.

I like to start with the first scene of the movie, then the second scene of the movie, then the third scene, and so on in that sequence until the end credits. :D

Well during Last Crusade, once River Phoenix gets the fedora put on his head, you have to stop and watch all the Sean Patrick Flannery Young Indy episodes, then continue watching Crusade. :p
