Identify This Bird?

Initially I thought it might be more trusting of me because it can see my arm is in a sling so it doesn't see me as much of a threat  It loves crushed up cornflakes and will happily turn it's back on my while feeding unlike other pigeons that are constantly scanning around them. It will be tricky for me to catch it with one arm but if I see it again I'll try to get some close up photos of the tag. It's definitely put on weight over the last few days and now has the build of a wood pigeon.

For the last week every time I go in to the garden a pigeon lands next to me and seems much more trusting than your average pigeon. It's always alone and has a blue tag on its leg so my mum thinks it's a racing pigeon that's lost or tired but it's huge and will scoff down any food in sight so if it is a racing bird it can't be a very good one or is in a heavyweight division. A few days ago it tried to land on my head so I'm not sure if it's trying to communicate or if it's just doing the rounds begging for food but it appears in good health. I think it's tagged by a science group rather than racing or homing but strange how it's always alone and more trusting than usual.
I had one up on my balcony many years ago. Same deal, leg tag plus there had been a major storm, so it was probably blown off course and it took a day or so to get it's bearings again.

Totally not the normal feathered rat type pigeons that are everywhere.

There is a sanctuary near the port that has a lot of spoonbills but I don't think I've seen any here-- not yet, anyway.

I'm from the UK and that bird looks A LOT like a cormorant. Although I just saw that picture of the Anhinga? And it also looks very similar. We get Grey Herons over here, very similar to the Blue Herons of the US.

Spotted a brown loon today--at least I think that's what it was. Had never seen a bird quite like it in our pond before.
Looked at a lot like this:
