I saw John deLancie this weekend >>

Tim

Vice Admiral
Admiral
No, it wasn't a con. He was narrating a performance of Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt (incidental music to the Henrik Ibsen play). He did a fantastic job (and is quite tall). The performance was also superb (Cleveland Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Vladimir Ashkenazy).

According to the concert notes, deLancie is currently directing operas (I hadn't realized he's a Juilliard graduate).

I'm not a fan of DeLancie's. Everey time I see him at cons he comes off as a bit of an A**hole.

The only thing I like are his Alien Voices performances with Leonard Nimoy.

Coming off as a bit of an asshole...is probably why they casted him as Q ~!
Probably not many people can conduct opera and not become at least a bit of a snob.
I can totally see Q conducting an opera...

I'm sure he was into his part as always....

I got his autograph in Apri 1990 at a Suny Stony Brook convention on Long Island. In person he was arrogant and rude. He was simply "Q" . I got Marina Sirtis's autograph too. the air went out of my chest. i was a kid in college , age 22 at the time. i could barely speak.

John de Lancie was cool when I met him at a con a few years ago. The combo of gray at the temples & a heavy sweater made him look like an uncle.

Flippin' channels the other night, I caught him in a guest spot on Shark, but only saw the one scene between him & James Woods at the end.

Ah, well...

That's pretty cool. I've heard he was not such a great guest at conventions...but I still like Q alot, so I'd be jazzed! :)
