Any idea on what "hyperonic radiation" could be? It can kill humanoid life, render transporters inoperative, and even interfere with phase weapons.

It would be radiation consisting of hyperons, which are a real thing:

After all, "The Ensigns of Command" was written back when TNG was trying to stay grounded in plausible science, as opposed to the later seasons/shows where they just made up random particle names. Although they did fudge it a bit, since hyperons have very short half-lives and would tend to decay into other particles very quickly.
