That's right, kids. We're sticking with the Star Trek theme this week, but we're paying homage to the man who brought Starfleet its biggest headache since Broken Bow. I'm talking Captain (and later Admiral) Christopher Pike, the man responsible for dragging James T Kirk out of the perpetual boredom of the Iowa cornfields.

Pike is played admirably by the super fine, well spoken and funny as hell Bruce Greenwood. Born in Quebec, he studied economics at the Unvieristy of British Colombia (must've been one hell of a weekend commute back to see the family). Greenwood also met his lucky wife when they were 15. (Awwwww!)

In addition to Star Trek, Greenwood has appeared, in I, Robot, the Core, I'm Not Here, Capote, Knots Landing, St. Elswhere, The Republic of Love, Swept Away (costaring as Madonna's husband), Thirteen Days (playing JFK), Capote, Firehouse Dog, as well as HBO's Joe from Cincinnati. Greenwood returned to the White House playing the president in of the United States in National Treasure: Book of Secrets.

On to the pics:

And this is really cool, Bruce at a special screening in Vulcan, Alberta. God love the Canadians for sticking together. And he shows much love for the fans. :D

"A made for tv movie with Ashley Judd" is actually Double Jeopardy. His JFK movie is Thirteen Days.

He also has a lot of geek cred on here for his TV show Nowhere Man.

EEK!

You left out his two best movies: Exotica and The Sweet Hereafter, both directed by Atom Egoyan.

OMG the pics in Vulcan CA with the fans are hysterical. I think I'm handicapped - I can only do the Vulcan salute left handed.

I love this man, I really do :-)

Nowhere Man!That's where i know him from, thanks Aragorn :)

Definitely another man who's just getting hotter as he gets older, i approve :techman:

The man gets a Thumbs Up for being awesome, not to mention one the most dependable actors working in Hollywood today :techman:

I remember him from Nowhere Man. He has an ethereal and smouldering quality, which, really, is pretty hard to achieve. Thumbs aloft.

Doesn't do anything for me, so meh, or brakes on or whatever we're calling it this week. :D

Captain Pike? This isn't Captain Pike?

Okay, from what I've seen, he does make a good AU Captain Pike. Also, he looks pretty amiable and I like the gray-at-the-temples look (I'm working on that, myself). And I thought Nowhere Man was a pretty good show.

In sum: Thumbs Up. :bolian:

My favorite guy in all of Trek XI!!!

I dunno...I just never went for the "traditionally" hot men (Pine and Quinto). But Pike (Greenwood)...he stuck out to me immediately.

But that's typical for me...I think men are like wine. They get better with age. ;)

Now, I GOTTA know...that pic of Pike that you posted in the black uniform--is there a full-sized wallpaper of that? If so, I want it SOOOOO bad! :D
