How was it actually possible for Lore on Omicron Theta to know about the Crystalline Entity...

...and how to contact and communicate with it?

Something Starfleet was still clueless about, decades later.

Especially as he was on Omicron Theta the entire time and never left the planet...

At least someone there knew about it and Lore learned about it. It's possible for non-starfleet Humans to know of things that Starfleet hadn't encountered or least have in record.....or it showed up in the colony's sensor range and Lore learned he could communicate with it so he lured it...

In this case, considering Data having the engrams and memories of all the colonists and his abilities, couldn't he have figured out the whereabouts of the CE and how to communicate with it on his own?

Not like there not known to the average colonist/citizen. They have probably been encountered numerous times by ships for probably centuries. It is also probably known that they sometimes attack planets.

So they might be in an area with alot of them going about, and might have been one passing by the system and Lore worked out how to lure it into the system, and over time learned to communicate.

Yeah maybe not all of them. It could have been another scientist who didn’t want Soong to have their knowledge and life work. I dunno.

Considering subspace communication and how fast rumors travel, wouldn't there have been at least some encounters between Starfleet and the entity most likely before "Datalore" and certainly long before "Silicon Avatar"?

Especially considering its feeding habits...

According to the IDW comic series Star Trek, the Crystalline Entities were godlike beings who lived in a group.
Perhaps Lore’s was a rogue one who left their social collective?

In the Second Splinter Timeline, the so-called Branchers were non-sentient cosmozoans who lived in the Vela Expanse, a rich ecosystem of space-based life.
Presumably, Lore’s Crystalline Entity got lost in Local Space and sought new sources of food?

Interesting! I read and enjoyed that Titan novel but never knew they appeared in the comics.

Would love to hear more about IDW's take on the Crystalline Entities.

Per MA.. Another, more powerful, Crystalline Entity appears in Star Trek Online. The Tholians seem to worship and protect it.

That would be a good episode.. have another CE, and the tholians, learning that the federation destroyed one, now protects them because the see them as some kind of god, or prophet or something. Maybe eventually using the communication method to communicate with it or, make some kind of bouy that is a CE Repellent to stop it gobbling inhabited systems.

Star Trek issue 1 shows them briefly when the USS Theseus encounters them in the Hephaestus Nebula. I don't know how or why they are suddenly considered god equivalent.
