I keep getting a pop up to update to Windows Explorer 8 but Id like to know if I already have 8 installed before I do it. Ive looked all over my system & cant seem figure out how to find that info, clicking properties on IE icon or system information doesnt help. So, um, help?

Did you look in the Help tab? There should be a sub tab that says About Windows Explorer. Click on that and it should open a window with all the info you need.

^Internet Explorer & felyxz's tip helped, I actually had to click ALT + H to get the toolbar with the About Internet Explorer tab. I have version 7 so I guess Ill be updating.
Thanks! :)

becareful when you up date though i've had no probs with ie8 i've had a few friends who had internet problems from ie8 though for my case it seems ok.

IE8 is pretty good to be honest, esp. its crash recovery system. Definite improvement over 7.

You'll have to make good use of the compatibility toggle button though. Some older sites which aren't fully compatible can randomly crash it. It's not a problem since the tab automatically recovers, and then you can just add that site to the list until the site's designers fix their code.

well I guess I'll have to swich to IE version 8 sooner than later b/c my current version of IE 7 has been acting pretty screwy lately, suddenly its been ridiculously slow to load pages, especially at sites I visit frequently like here, Ebay, Devianart & Comcast.net (email). Its so annoying. I dont seem to have any viruses or malware issues(Ive ran AVG, Malawarebytes, Adaware & they dont pick up anything.) So I think its a browser issue, Im getting a lot of those dreaded white page with light blue text "internet explorer cannot access website" pages...I also get "cannot access server" while trying to get into my email. :scream:

IE8 is almost as much of an improvement over IE7 as IE7 was over IE6.

The compatibility button is nice. However I think my favorite new feature is the one that automatically restores your last session if the program crashes.

It will import your favorites, yes. I am using the new FF 3.5 and love it.

As for IE performance, make sure and clear out temp files, history, cookies etc... This can help with slow IE performance. IE8 is much improved over IE7, so if you are use to IE, and use that browser, it will be a worth it upgrade.
