How do I "explore the galaxy" in Klingon Academy? I forgot how to!

I remember playing Klingon Academy like 10 years ago on my friend's computer and I distinctly remember being able to "explore" the game's galaxy (like warping to different systems and stuff and fighting random AI enemies). It was a pretty cool little simulation of a persistent universe.

I recently bought the game again and I forgot how to do this. I tried going in "Quick Battle" but it really doesn't let me warp anywhere (when I press 9, and then go to "helm" and select a place on the map, and then click engage, nothing happens after that), so what gives?

Thanks.

You got it right.

Complete any QuickBattle and then go to the helm and select any system on the map and warp to it.
You'll get random AI encounters.

Of course, you must be in an undamaged warp-capable vessel.

And you must allocate power on the sliding warp power scale on the helm panel.

That should do it.

Of course! Thank you so much!

This mode extends the replayability of the game ten-fold. Imagine if they made a whole game out of that, but with a ton of more stuff? It would be awesome!

KA is the best.
With QB and my 450+ mods spanning all eras of ST, I can never never run out of interesting gameplay.

I still keep a PC with Win98 up and running just so I can keep KA alive and well... forever.

Man, I so wish I had managed to install the game.

I managed it with Starfleet Academy, and Dominion Wars, but did not get far with either. And now my old laptop is basically out of commission.

Superb performances by Plummer, Warner and Dorn of course...

Noticed there is another thread open that discussed KA, which is a bit more modern. Its against form rules to bring back old threads from 10+ years ago.....
