House of Tucker is being moved to AO3

I didn’t even know House of Tucker had disappeared! I have all these bookmarks that lead nowhere now! I hope the transfer goes well and it doesn’t import with weird formatting or no paragraphs breaks or anything of that nature! There’s so many wonderful fics on House of Tucker and it would be swell if new fans found them so fingers crossed that the import goes smoothly!

@Hopeful Romantic you had your fic on there, yes? I think if you make an account on AO3 you can claim your own fic so that you can edit it if any weird formatting creeps in during importing and also get notice about comments. Is there anyone else still active on here that should be alerted?

Thanks for the heads-up, @Sumire. I did not know HoT was gone. What a great place to be back in the day.

I've never had a chance to post my stories at AO3, so this will be nice. The authors at HoT will be contacted about the move, and Bucky and myst and the other moderators will be working with AO3 to get the archive over there.

I'm just glad the stories will continue on Ao3 and that new fans will discover the stories and get to enjoy them like we did back in the day when it was on tv.

It appears the process of moving all those stories may take a while. I have found that you can access the old pages by going through the Wayback Machine, bless its automated heart.

For example, here is the Authors page for the Trip/T'Polers archive. The links along the left hand column (at least the ones I checked) lead to Wayback'd captures of the other subsites and stories.

Oof, I wasn't a T/T'P girlie back in the day but I did enjoy the message board part of it. I loved how TATV continued to auto correct to "The abomination" even when I last visited there three years ago

But damn, it's absolutely the end of an era to see it go but I'm happy the fics will carry over. I only wish AO3 was around when the Logical Choice (the A/T'P equivalent to HoT) went under so we could've saved those fics too. :(

I dunno if you're still writing fanfic at all but yeah, the site is as user friendly as it gets! You'll love it :)

"The Abomination," I forgot about that! :guffaw:Good times, good times.

I'd have to dig to find the url address of The Logical Choice, but maybe those fics still exist on the Wayback Machine. Might be worth a try.

I‘m doing a rewatch after 20 years and wanted to read some classic fanfic from back then. Imagine my face now finding out that House of Tucker was down 😢

As HoT is in transit, the Wayback Machine has preserved a lot of the site. Use the links as you normally would, and they usually lead to other Wayback'd pages from the site.

It was very hard to let the House of Tucker site go, but it has been inactive for 20 years. In the last few years there has been minimal traffic to the site--the HOTBBS closed years ago. So, led by evay, the mods got together over a year ago and worked to ready the material for transfer to AO3, which has been very careful and very helpful in the transfer. Myst123 and I were responsible for all the material on the Triptpolers page. Hoping to maintain some level of quality, I proofread and uploaded close to thousand T/T fics to the Triptpolers Fiction page. Myst123 handled all the rest of it.

It was sad for us--for Myst123 and me, and for all the mods of each of the sites. We were/are friends and did not quibble over T/T vs A/T or T/M, just enjoyed the character of Trip Tucker and his interactions with all the characters. But. We are ready to let it go.

Many thanks to AO3 for taking over our archive.

Thank you all, for keeping HoT going for as long as you did, and for ensuring its content would find a new home...

Thanks so much for managing this transfer! I loved reading all the great fics on House of Tucker but it took some work to find somewhere I could leave messages of enthusiastic appreciation because I decided to go all in two decades after its heyday. It warms my heart to know, should those authors ever want to look back at their fics they’ll see all these new fans getting excited about and loving their work, even decades later.

Mama @Bucky, so good to hear from you! Big hugs to you and Myst and the mods for giving us the House of Tucker. It was my happy home for so many years, and I'm grateful to all of you. I can personally attest to the time and effort you took to get my stories posted there - you are the best.

Thank you for shepherding the move to AO3, and preserving HoT's outstanding collection of stories. Now they will live forever . All the best to you!

I would love some „New“ fanfiction from after the show’s run.

I am now done with my rewatch and after Terra Prime I feel disappointed that the potential of the show never ran its course.😢
Everyone else got 7 seasons and season 4 alone could keep up with the rest of the franchise. They should do an animated 3 seasons like Lower Decks to give us closure.

I also want to thank Bucky, Myst123 and everyone else for keeping up House of Tucker for as long as you did. I’ll always remember it as a fun place to be in my childhood and social media doesn’t quite fill the hole that forum left with its fun antics. 💕

They absolutely should! That would be amazing! 🩷 They might even snag Jolene if she could just soundproof a closet or something and work from home.

I am 100% a Trip x T’Pol shipper so my AO3 recommendations are horribly biased, I apologize, but if you like or even don’t mind that ship, here are some great reads:

If you want to read a newer fic that made me cry multiple times (it deals with the terrible no good very bad ending), Sightseer by avocadomoon is exquisitely written. Heartrate by the same author is much happier but still tinged with sorrow because it fixes some things but not all. If you want to snuggle down into a long read where the abomination never happened (nor did T’Pol’s trillium addiction), I suggest Built to Last by starsandfireplains. If that snags your attention, she’s written side stories as well (like Irregular Orbits which is a fun prequel) and continues to do so. pi’yel by talshiargirlfriend, a short AU piece where Elizabeth lives, is a wonderful, touching read. Call It Anything You Want But a Mistake by Witchy1ness is a grueling read because it takes you through all the emotional turmoil between T’Pol and Trip but it’s expertly crafted and let’s you marinate in the angst if that’s your thing. 😁

Thank you for the info and the link! I started reading the stories posted on the Trip/T’Polers website the month before it closed. And to say I was very disappointed 😢 is an understatement. But am now so excited 😆 again! You have made my week! Thank you 🙏 thank you 🙏 thank you 🙏
